At first i thought this game was broken, i ranted and raved on a few topics here on the
issues i have been having. (sorry) I thought it may have been a performance issue but it only seems
to do this on (some) quests. A lot (but not all) of the quests seem to be broken for me.

The main quest:
I am summoned to high Horthgar, When Borri tells me to follow him to the courtyard, they
stand at the door, they will not go through it. So....I go through the door.... they never
come. I go back in and they are reset, walking back to the door (to stand at it again) .....
3 characters, nearly 500 hours played on all 3 and it is always the same, i can not get past
this section of the main quest.

Thieves guild:
2 characters..... 2 groupps of thieves standing at the unopened door to the guild vault
waiting to see if mercer hads robbed them, Bry asks Devlin to use his key to open it....he
just stands there. my lvl 60 kajit has nearly 200 hrs raked up and the thieves still stand
at the door......

Many other quests i have run into that the required npc will NOT go thru the door, i stand
back and (try) to let them do there own thing, i wait. I go away and come back. Either they
are reset to their starting point or standing at the door.
Only quest npc's do this. Everyone else goes through doors just fine.

I have a long list of quests i can not complete becauese of this. too many to list off the
top of my head.

I am on PC

I have some mods, mostly skins/textures and the scaled down map with roads and hillside.
No cheats or hacks...I tried messing with the consle commands, they dont seem to work :/
Nor am i interested in *Commanding* quests to be done anyway.

I run around, kill things and try to take as few quets as i can. But it's boring not doing
many quests and i don't see the point in continuing if thats all i can do.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice from the oem dvd to no avil.

On to the PC. it is a bit old, not ancient but a few years old...

I am planning on an upgrade in a few months (mobo/cpu/mem) regardless.

I am not really very computer savy, i can get around a bit to some degree, but thats it.

Unrelated to the quest issues.....loading times trying to get out of a building or town is
just unbearable, I timed it the other day (finally) and had a 3 min, ( 172 seconds!) to get
out of my house in whiterun. I believe this is CPU/MOBO bus speed. if it is not and others
go thru this i will move on to something else if the upgrade will not fix these issues.
(quest and load times)

Not having experienced those odd failings, I can't tell you whether it is your PC or something / anything else. I can tell you that even when brand new, a Radeon HD 5450 was very, VERY weak sauce. It has only a 64-bit memory system, and is very slow, so attaching more than 128 MBs of VRAM onto it is a pure and simple SCAM to get you to pay for something you cannot use.

The minimum from that year that can actually do anything with 512 MBs of VRAM and a screen of 1920 by 1080 pixels is the HD 5770, and even it can't access all 512 MBs all of the time, through its 128 bit memory system. With the screen resolution lowered to a medium figure, 256 MBs is adequate, and so is an HD 5570. To run with an HD 5450, the screen resolution should be low, for a small count of pixels.

I can't put my finger on it. It seems like the find path algorithm that Bethesda uses when NPCs have to move to a certain position is uncovering problems. Software related to hardware... don't know. Updating PC seems the way to go. But you may try the PC console command to move an NPC to where you are located.

I have given up, quest after quest will not work, i feel ripped off, azuras star, thieves quild, main quest, DB quest, mages guild, the list goes on and on, it is unplayable even after a new video card. i will never buy another bethesda game again. This is a joke. (sorry for the rant but i am thourgly po'd)

I'll go back to something that works, if i wanted to go see scenery, i'll go outside, thats the only thing this game is good for.


BTW; issue resolved, uninstalled and thrown in the garbage
