I have yet to start the Civil war quest line and now am tasked to make a truce between the stormcloaks and imperials. My question is: If I make the truce, will the civil war be over completely? Or is it a temporary cease-fire? I wanted to join one of the sides (not going to tell you because I don't want to be judged).. So if I make the truce will I be able to do any civil war quests after the main quest??

its a temporary cease fire. you will be ably to do the civil war quests after you complete the main quest.
