Civil war quests... really, Bethesda?

Well, I played as a Nord first, so I joined with Ulfric.
Then, an Imperial, so I joined the legion..

What I expected, at best, totally different quests culminating on a common quest/battle, looked upon the perspective of the side I joined.
At worst, I expected the same quests, but from different perspectives, i.e., if I attack as a stormcloak, then I would defend as a legionnaire, and vice versa.

But other than the Whiterun battle (which wasn't anything impressive), the same exact quests for both sides? Get the crown, falsify orders, etc...you have got to be kidding me. Maybe it is that I got spoiled playing Witcher, but this is just... I don't know what to call it. There has to be 100 "fetch this" quests which are basically the same, but when they could've gone for the homerun, they just decided to bunt.

Yes, there are a fair amount of fetch and carry nonsense quests. I've not been at all interested in the civil war stories within the game. Glad to know they were skippable.

Slightly off topic... if Schroedinger's cat were trapped in a box with an arrow pointed at its knee, and you pushed a button to launch the arrow that only worked 50% of the time, would you have to say that, without opening the box, the cat existed in a state where it both TOOK and DIDN'T TAKE an arrow to the knee? These are the questions that keep me up at night.

Not enough factors known. How long is the cat in the box? How rapidly is the button being pressed? What is the probability of the cat summoning a daedra lord each time the button is pressed?

That depends on the cat. If the cat is/was an adventurer, the odds of taking the arrow in the knee increases by 25%. If the cat is currently a guard, the odds increase by a further 25% (non-compounding).
