HighUltra textures doesnt work, game looks ugly

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 10:45 pm

I have a problem with textures. I played game with ultra/high settings and some time a go the game went ugly. It started to use Low textures. I re-installed & downloaded the game, updated my GPU & win 7 drivers, nothing. I also installed some High Res textures packs, nothing. All the other mods seems to work, but the ones that upgrades textures doesn't work. For some reason the game doesn't want to use better textures, even when I uninstall those texture mods and try to play it with basic Ultra settings. Game just looks like *****. It used to look beautiful but something happened.. Is there some Steam setting files that stays on computer when you uninstall the game? I have also tried to find the answer from *.ini files and Ati's CCC tool, with no result.

If I can apply previous engine knowledge, it sounds like an archive invalidation problem.

Where do I get that previous engine information?

What he meant is from previous games with the same engine as Skyrim (Fallouts and Oblivion) the same problem occurs.

I think you can reset archive invalidation using Nexus Mod Manager. It is an option at the top.

Other than that I cannot help, never heard of this problem. If you have a good PC you should mod them all anyway, use the Skyrim Enhancement Project for help on Nexus.

I tried to use 2 times that Archive Validation from Nexus Mod Manager and nothing happened. Then i read the pdf file from that Skyrim enhancement project (which im not going to use, because I like to choose by myself which mods to use) and there was this hint for CCC 3d settings:"
-Change only these options (guides assumes all settings are at default):
Catalyst A.I.:
Texture Filtering to 'High Quality'
Enable Surface Format Optimization: enabled"

I think that resetting all values by default setting did something good, because after that I used ones again that Archive Validation and started to play, everything looks sharp and great! It uses High Textures!

Thank you guys!
