Realtek High Definition Audio

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 5:51 am

I've been suffering from audio sounds in game that were way to quiet since the game first came out. The only thing that helped was Loudness Equalization in the windows sound control panel, under properties for the output, but it still wasn't right.

Finally did away with the motherboard manufacturers (Gigabyte) provided sound drivers (Realtek High Definition Audio) and went straight to Realtek. This is running Windows 7 64 bit.

It's never sounded so good, and I've had to turn the master volume down ...

Wait, I don't understand Rocket. You simply downloaded the latest Realtek Audio drivers here? http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?langid=1&pfid=24&level=4&conn=3&downtypeid=3
I got low sound too.

I have motherboard "msi p45 neo-f", and the problem is that I can't find this exact product when I search on it on the MSI's website: http://eu.msi.com/service/search/?kw=p45%20neo&type=product
There is no product called "msi p45 neo-f", but there are many other products named closely to it, like "p45 neo", "p45d3 neo-f" etc etc.
I don't dare to download a driver for a motherboard from MSI's website that doesn't got my exact product name. Things can go terribly wrong.

If you simply just downloaded the latest Realtek Audio drivers though, Rocket, then I don't need to worry about downloading motherboard drivers, right? I can simply just download it here http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?langid=1&pfid=24&level=4&conn=3&downtypeid=3 and forget about my motherboard problem.

When it comes to realtek Audio chips.. and i've been stating this in almost every single low sound issues or when realtek is brought up.. NEVER EVER EVER EVER download the realtek drivers from the motherboard manufacturers website..

get them from realtek straight away.

All you need to do is see if your using HD audio (by todays standards... 99.9% likely)..... then pick either win vista/7 OR xp driver package...

download ... install.. and smile. (hopefully)

the latest version as of this post is 2.67 for the HD drivers... while obtainable from realtek.. there servers usually TOTALLY svck..

so i give you direct links to a very reliable site as an alternative

Here is vista/win7/win8 32/64bit

http://majorgeeks.com/Realtek_High_Definition_Audio_for_VistaWin_7_d5513.html

here is xp

http://majorgeeks.com/Realtek_High_Definition_Audio_for_2KXP03_d4902.html

Always best to go into the control panel and add/remove or Programs and features.. and then uninstall the current realteks FIRST.. followed by a reboot.. and then install the new ones followed by a reboot.

It has been a problem since day 1 with Skyrim. It's not the driver or anything. Set your playback device to CD quality and you should have a louder music+sound+sound effect.
Also, do search the forums. there are probably at least 100 threads about the sound.

Yes. I was convinced of the same. But a driver update in my case appears to have rectified it. I now have master volume set to 50%. Anything more is too loud.

And I'm aware of the 100+ threads that have disappeared into the BB history.

Install windows

Install all windows updates EXCLUDING driver updates if you can for the time being.

Install motherboard chipset drivers From manufacturer of chipset NOT motherboard vendor (unless they do not provide one)

Install SATA Drivers from manufacturer of the SATA controller.. NOT from motherboard vendor... (unless not available)

Install Latest graphics driver from manufacturer of the video chip, NOT from motherboard/video Card Manufacturer...

Install Latest Audio Drivers from manufacturer of the audio chip, NOT from the motherboard manufacturer (unless not available)

Install additional USB3... or other additional ports.... DISABLE the additional sata ports unless in use via the motherboard bios PRIOR to installing windows (recommended) .. Including old legacy ports such as serial/Printer Ports..... no point in them being on/enabled if you don't use them... In the future they can be turned on.... doesn't take long for windows to install them....

Do a fresh check for windows updates and install any additional drivers it may recommend, Excluding lets say the microsoft mouse/keyboard crap.... unless your having trouble using your current mouse/keyboard ...... don't bother installing these.. it's just unnecessary garbage.

Install your favorite programs afterwhich

Bethesda is still ignoring the problem with PC volume issues.
