Here Dragie Dragie Dragie...

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 6:27 am

Dang I am real tied of Dragons flying overhead, circling four or five times, then just flying off. I can't hit the dag thing with an arrow. They're just too far away and if I lead the arrow enough the dragon always seems to change direction.

So what's the best way to get one of these beast attention? Note as a warrior I have limited myself by not learning any spells. I have tried the push shout towards them, but that seems to miss or not reash them either.

Thanks.

There's a shout to bring dragons to land, isn't? Else.. Dragons lands when it finds a large and plain piece of terrain. It even rhymes, I think...

Else there's not much things to be done.

Yeah. As Dragonborn you will learn one specific shout during the main quest that forces dragons to land.

your bow has better range than most of my spells... follow them and get to higher ground?

I kill most of my dragons in towns they're already attacking or out on flat ground where I'm the only target so I'm rarely in a place where I have to bring them to ground.

dragonrend is a specific shout for a specific dragon, until you've done that quest you don't have a way to learn it. when you have it you can ground the remaining dragons if they are in shout range.

good luck. sorry you're having trouble.

How far are you in the main quest line? I believe at a certain point before finishing the MQ, there is a dragon that flies around and won't attack you (he has other business he's taking care of) and will eventually fly off. Have you ever hit one of these that seems to be ignoring you, and seen the enemy life bar below the compass? If so, do you remember the name of the dragon that appeared? What patch version of the game are you on?

Sometimes dragons are flying simply out of your reach. Even with the insta-hit lightining spells, dead-on hits cannot reach them (which leads me to think hitting them with a bow would be close to impossible). I think this usually happens when the dragon is distracted (trying to eat that Troll or that bear) and not paying attention to you. I usually try running towards the dragon and trying to see if there's an offender (and take it out if I can). However, unless you are on a dragon killing rampage, I'd say ignore them. Plenty more where they come from.

I have finished Act I and watched the dragon resurrection.

I have spotted the 'boss' dragon again later resurrecting another dragon. When he was done he flew off and I killed the dragon he raised (it had a name but I forget what it was).

I never see the life bar unless the dragon is actually hit be either myself or some NPC. That's when it shows up as a red dot also on the compass. Most the dragons I've seen never even show up as a red dot. They are not the big boss, I know what he looks like. They just never go hostile toward me as they never seem to see me (even though I guy is jumping up and down and shouting).

I'm on STEAM so I assume I have the latest patch, since I've never done anything to stop it from patching.

Note I do get a dragon occationally, so I don't think it's a bug. I just want a way to get those few that seem to just circle some and fly off.

good way IS to use your bow as it out ranges spells. Use the slow time shout (not difficult to get) and you wont have a hard time hitting then.

I just wait till the dragon is attacking, whether they're using their breath weapon from a hover (not strafing), or landing and attacking. It's a bit more time consuming, but I use the periods in which they're flying around to heal myself up for the next 'assault', poison my next arrow, quaff a potion or two, etc.

I haven't even seen a dragon for about 15 levels. I'm not sure but I think I'm bugged. Souls don't absorb anyway so I figure what's the bother? Waiting for a good patch I guess.

I can relate iam also one of those guys jumping around to try and get the attention of the dragon and sometimes that little bugger just fly away.
However some of them are really nice sometimes when iam exploring i just hear a big thump behind me and there it is my own nice dragon to kill ....love this ones so considerate to land near me so me and my companion can beat the dragon in a pile of bones.
Iam trying to have tons of scales and bones so when i reach blacksmithing to 100 i can create the dragon stuff.
These days i already stop trying to get their attention if i see a dragon i just keep going if he lands he dies if not some other dragon is bound to try and kill me anyway :hubbahubba:
