...but i will explain also.

Last night I was doing a quest, searching for one of the Dragon Cult masks, and my character suddenly turned a grey blue colour.

I flicked to 3rd person and saw that I was completely invisible.

Now, I usually sneak everywhere and assumed that as I had recently gained another level in sneaking, that it was somehow a result of this.
I cant decide whether or not it is.

Ive tried using the 'Become Ethereal' shout (shown in video) as others seem to have had some kind of luck with is on sumilar bugs, but to no avail. After the effect of the shout wares off my character seems to "melt" back into invisibility, as if is supposed to happen, but in 1st person view (the way I prefer to play) all I see is a blue-grey mass where my weapons and arms should be!

Please Help!

try reverting to an older save?
console commands to change your stealth back to 97 and then relevel it to 98?

I tried using player.modav to lower the skill level (I lowered it to 80) but it made no difference to my issue.

Reloading a save from a couple of days ago, when I was Sneak level 86, did work but I'm reluctant to play from there if its going to behave the same once I reach higher levels (not to mention all the lost time).

I guess Ive got no choice...

Ya I forget how long 97 to 98 in stealth is in contrast to low level....I keep about ten save games in my game folder and then back them all up somewhere else

I think Im going to have to do that.

Had another mess with my 'corrupted' save and it seems to be some kind of texture loading fault.

If I use an item, change my weapon and outfit or use any kind of appearance-changing ability/potion it reverts back to normal momentarily, sometimes only while the menus are up, but then gets messed up when the effects ware off or I resume play.

I did manage to see my hair and eyes after taking all of my clothes off. They remained visible until I put a mask on again.

All lighting effects in the world (fire, spells, auras, light rays etc.) are still blocked by my figure, as if was still visible.

be any chance have you done miscellaneous quests in the college of winterhold? I think a certain quest there turns you completely invisible... temporary, but it does last a while.

Yeah read about that one, I havnt done it. I did the main winterhold storyline and one or two of the others but I havent encountered that one.

Im playing through again from my older save. I'll let you know what happens when I get back to where I was...

It must have been a random glitch because I'm back to where I was (and then some) and I haven't had any issues!

I was very annoyed at having to load an earlier save but Skyrim is so vast I distracted myself by doing some quests I hadnt done in the meantime

I've got the exact same problem. I was just wandering across a field, killing the odd bear or wolf, then bam, this happens. Nothing fixes it! The problem seems to get baked into the savegame as well, so the only solution is going back to a save made before the glitch occurred. Arrgh.
