Does Umbra Exist in Skyrim?

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 7:42 pm

So far I haven't encountered the famous sword of Umbra. If you're only fighting with your weapon, then a soul trap enchantment on your sword for 1 second would provide the same results, but I'm still curious as to whether or not this artifact is seen in Skyrim.

There is an angry old orc up in some mountain who asks you to give him a "good death" but he doesn't drop the Umbra sword. It's clearly a reference to Umbra though.

Cool. So I'll just keep an eye out for those when I stop by the college of winterhold.

They're books in the real world. Our world. Earth, not Nirn. :-)

Umbra was destroyed in lore.

Besides, if it was in Skyrim it would be a dagger. In Morrowind it was a greatsword but it was a longsword in Oblivion because, according to lore, the ones who possess Umbra sharpen it fanatically, gradually making the blade smaller and smaller.

Anyone notice that skeleton hand holding a sword sticking out of a pond near whiterun?

I've never actually grabbed it...is it special?

the orc is a random event and can happen anywhere, not just up a mountain. I met him in the tundra not far from the western watchtower.

Umbra is over rated, Goldbrand is the best sword, and so is Duskthang.

Damn that just svcks Umbra was one of my favorite swords but so is Goldbrand hope that's still in. I used Umbra to charge Goldbrand in previous TES games. Gues this is one thing Oblivion has over Skyrim in my book.

I don't understand why they killed that sword rather than writing in a way to keep it in.

Pretty sure that sword is level-scaled, or at least random. It was Orcish when you saw it, but it can be other types.

Scumbag Orc needs to find one of the million enemies min the game to fight "for the good of Skyrim".

Instead, stalks Dovakiin and asks for death.

Speaking of the lore, is there by chance a compiled database of tes lore to research? I'm curious to read it all

If in Markarth you do the missions in the abandoned house you will get the mace of Molag Bal this weapon is still 1 handed and does exactly what that sword did. Iam using that weapon to gather my souls to power the mace ...
Also love the fact that some guards tell me get that weapon away from me :D LOVE IT :celebration:

That's gonna take you a while :P

But you want to check out the UESP.net and The Imperial Library, the latter being more lore dedicated and the first one being a whole wikia dedicated to the series.

I saw this guy standing not 30 feet from a dragon lair. I'm thinking .. dude if you want an honorable death look up ...
