Enemies fly too far when killed

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 7:36 pm

I'm experiencing a bug where enemies, when killed, fly a ridiculous distance (across rooms, off ledges, etc.) This makes both looting and reanimation almost impossible, as the bodies are often simply inaccessible. Upon first discovering this bug, I decided to simply start a new save file (I hadn't progressed terribly far yet). All was well in this new save file until just a few minutes ago. Backtracking through my save points, it appears that the bug is triggered at some point while purchasing and learning the Apprentice level destruction spells from Farangar in Whiterun (Lightning bolt, ice spike, firebolt). Any thoughts?

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=601 <- Realistic Ragdolls (a.k.a) no flying enemies about. I use it, it doesn't interfere with other mods or break the game in any way, so it's pretty safe.

It happens to me as well when using lightning bolt and then killing my enemies, regardless of how I kill them, if I have used lightning on them they will go flying. This does not occur to the same extent with fireball.

EDIT: I'm not sure but I think I purchased my spells from Farengar as well

Dayer, thank you so much for that link. I will try it out and report back. And catface, while I do play with v-sync turned off, I temporarily re-enabled it and the bug persisted, so I don't think it's related.

I also have it, but the sword my character uses is in steel. It's apparently something new; I'd never noticed it before patch 1.4.

Did a few tests and it only happens when using lightning bolt. I tested with firebolt and ice spikes as well and they produce normal deaths when the killing blow is with a weapon. I tested with a steel sword, a skyforge steel sword and wuuthrad and all of them made the enemy fly away with great speed if I had first hit them with lightning bolt. I tested this on a character that hadn't bought his spells from farengar so I don't think htat's the problem. It also didn't happen with every kill but maybe three in five.

The only time I had this happen was indeed with the Lightning spell. So, dual wielding one hand axe and lightning gave me this effect. The enemy flies ridiculously far. It does not always happen and I didn't do extensive testing. It's entertaining at first but like OP said it's not practical.

It appears that the mod posted earlier fixes the exact problem described here (thanks again, dayer). Also, poor wording on my part, I didn't mean to imply a link between Farangar and this bug. I simply was stating where I procured the spells, which in retrospect wasn't relevant info. I can also confirm that the bug appears to only affect the lightning bolt spell.
