End of the Main Quest

I thought the MQ in Skyrim was great, personally, but I also feel that you kind of get tossed back into Tamriel without much direction. What has become of the peace treaty and what should I do next?

The civil war side quest is definitely a must, but you should also seek out some of the guilds and join them.

Civil War Questlines, Thieve Guild quests, Join the Dark brotherhood, College of winter hold quests (which i find boring, in my opinion). Good questlines to keep you occupied. I recommend joining the dark brotherhood, its loads of fun

the guild quests wont keep people occupied for very long. they're all fairly short (dark brotherhood is the longest and most fun wit hthe college being the least fun and shortest).

i recommend finishign the civil war (to get it out of the way) and go do quests for the people in each city. quests liek the white phial questline or the markath lines are fairly decent.

also, theres A LOT of misc quests u can get and do. theres lots of places to discover

Thanks for the advice everyone. I already completed the companions guild questline and I am saving the thieves guild, mages guild, and dark brotherhood for subsequent characters (yeah, I'm a role player). My issue with the civil war is just choosing a side haha. Moral justification for each faction is pretty precarious, and this character is my "white knight" if you will, so I guess I just need to pick one. I still enjoy dragon hunting, and I got married and crafted my wife some nice dragon armor, so I'm feeling pretty good right now. Level 42 though so I'm not gonna be moving up the perk trees much more.
