As said in title, every time I try to start skyrim it says detecting my settings and sets them to medium high, though I was playing on ultra prior to running the beta, It always tries to start in window mode at the lowest screen resolution, when I change the settings to ultra and 1920 x 1080 resolution and press play the game comes up with failed to enumerate and goes back to its original defaults. has any one got any ideas please?

Mine just says that when I wait on the slash screen. No idea what cuases it but it doesn't seem to cause any problems anyway.

Just a guess: check to make sure your .ini files are not set to "read only", because then it can't save your prefered settings.

Failed to enumerate is a new error. From what I've been told it is trying to connect to Steam. If you are in offline mode, you will get this error. That said, it's something I would like them to change. I don't mind a message somewhere in the window, but a pop-up is annoying. The fact that it continues to pop up repeatedly is more annoying.

That must be it, I only connect steam online if I want to check for updates. Otherwise I always run it in offline mode.

Would be good if they can get rid of the message.

Same here. I don't want my game to "accidentally" update when I have no idea the consequences. I like to gather some info on changes/fixes/performance/new bugs first. Also, some of my mods won't be compatible (I won't be able to play).

That's not the only reason, but the main one.
