Was just curious on if you can have multiple professions (i.e Smithing, Alchemy, etc)
I know it should maybe say it somewhere but I am getting ready to play the game and was just curious..

Also trying to decide if the guide book would help in questions like this or not

Yes, you can do every profession one one character if you like.

Guide book is wasted money in my opinion if you have internet, but yes, it has lots of useful info in it.
