to the developers from bethesda

Hi

I love games from bethesda. period. be it fallout series or skyrim.

But there are always an issue which i think you guys choose to ignore which is bugs... the game skyrim is fun.. just like any other games u made.. but the thing is it is buggy!!!

Hey, we pay for fun not for bugs.. no matter how good the game gets, it is very very and i mean very annoying to crash before you have a chance to save and you are almost done with the mission. Or all of the sudden keyboard doesnt work... F toggle POV is what doesnt work regularly for me..

and then companions, they disappear into thin air sometimes.. wtf .. i mean? GOTY must be way better than this isnt it?

Perhaps you missed that they've just had an open beta for the latest patch which has now released (1.4), This time around, seems they aren't ignoring the bugs.

edit: Remains to be seen how many they'll deal with, but at least it's better than Fallout 3 which had one bug fix patch and five DLC support patches.

Actually, they ignored most of the issues that were reported in the beta. Only one significant issue was addressed and that was the sound bug associated with opening the map. That was the only issue that I recall that received a response from Bethesda. Other issues, including reports of increased instability as well as other fixes (such as ash piles not cleaning up) went unanswered by the Bethesda team and unaddressed in the 1.4 release.

really? but when i look at other threads.. 1.4 seems to me it is another dimension of new bugs..
i only wait for steam to upload and update.. i am not a big fan of doing the extra work... because i know bethesoft buggy.. they rather spend time working on dlcs making more money than tuning what they have sold... this has been the case for FO3 .. and then FONV the bugs just got even worse...

Ash piles are listed as fixed in the patch notes.

Also, a good chunk of the 'instability reports' were from people who were playing with mods.....that were outdated by the patch. Their immediate reaction was to blame the patch rather than something THEY DID.

The majority reported increased performance and improved framerates and stability.

Indeed. And I would guess another cause of many issues is people using long broken saves originating from 1.0~1.2.

Compared to other versions, 1.4 has been performing liquid butter smooth for me so far. This character/save was started on 1.3 with minimal issues throughout 110 hours. Just the typical stuff like Blood on the Ice and Esbern's Dragon Potion thing.

I've only played an hour or so of 1.4, so I haven't had much time to run into issues. But man, the framerate and smoothness of it. Beautiful.

Some of us beta "testers" were very enthusiastic about the exterior FPS boosts (I get very good results at the legendary viewpoint in Whiterun, for example), but reduced FPS in certain interior locations. The threads seem to bounce around us testers only, I never saw any Bethesda input.

For example, go to Orotheim (far west of Whiterun), it's a little cave. Try walking through it with mods or without, it's not a smooth ride. I also had stuttering in Fort Snowhawk last night in the room where the necromancer leader is.

It's probably due to some kind of lighting issues (as it's interior locations) but it would have been nice for someone from Bethesda to comment one way or another. Ditto with the talk about the recommendations to run with external triple buffering - nobody from Bethesda chimed in there either.

People from Bethesda don't have to reply to every topic someone writes. I made a topic about the beta patch in which I described my problem giving detailed info about my spec, error etc. Because it was a major issue (BSOD) I even posted logs from Debugger.
After that I got contacted by someone from the staff asking me about couple of things, we exchanged a couple of e-mails. I don't know if the issue I reported got fixed or not, but I can assure you, they are trying.

For me 1.4 (apart from my issue which first occurred in 1.1) was a major upgrade and I'm overall satisfied with it. If they've managed to fix my problem then I will be even happier, but to know that I need to come back from work and check the release version of 1.4 ;)

Cheers.

Nah, Bethesda games are never buggy. They're just not meant for a non-geek audience.

Jokes aside though, my game has been stable since 1.3.10. The Beta patch 1.4.15 was working fine although for me it didn't give much ofan FPS boost which I attributed to the crappy i3 processor and GT440 GPU I had. So I did a complete system upgrade on Monday like any die hard Bethesda fan would and I have had no problems so far on this rig either with 1.4.21 installed.

P.S. - Being able to run everything at Ultra + 4096 shadows and getting 60fps (VSync On) in most places if you don't use AO (nVidia) is just awsomeness. :D

Getting even better framerates then before with Patch 1.4 and with shadows now set to high with no slight lag. Didnt know what a difference shadows can make when adding a sense of solid visual depth. Excellent work Bethesda. Thanks!

This.

It's ironic how people say that Bethesda ignores bugs when they put performance fixes that people desperately wanted into patch 1.4. At least bugs can be fixed with console commands or when the CK is released. Performance issues can't. Now granted, I don't like buggy games (I don't find Skyrim nearly as buggy as others made it out to be: I only had one quest bug on me so far), but I would rather they fix the performance and stability issues first.

So yeah, great work Bethesda! (and I don't mean that sarcastically).
