Having trouble with Krosis

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 2:06 am

BTW, I'm on Patch 1.1. I didn't update to 1.2 so no problems with the resistances.

I'm about to give it another run later on using y'alls ideas. Keep 'em coming!

Are you familiar with Aranea Ienith?
She's a companion you get from Azura.

She can solo him pretty easily, on master difficulty even.
I had her do all the work while I hid behind the word wall.

I'll check into getting Aranea as a company. Thanks!

Ah good, then do the magic/fire resistance things I mentioned above to easily wall his fireball.

I used Storm Call, then hid behind a rock. Tossed some fireballs at him to finish him off.

That sounds like the problem right there.

Come back after 10 levels at the very least!

What are you guys talking about. I killed Krosis at level 10. I hid behind large stones, healing myself and only leaving cover to throw some firebolt things at him. It worked perfectly fine.

I believe I was around the same level as you when I stumbled across Krosis. My character type is an archer/sneaker so the weapons I used (I think was an unenchanted Elven bow with Steel or Iron arrows) may be of no use, but the method may be.

Also, I have not started the Main Quest yet, so there are no Dragons about in my game. On the way to this boss, I had traversed some mountains, so my follower got a bit lost and so I was forced to face Krosis alone. If you turn with your back towards the word wall and look down the hill there are some bones on the ground, I somehow managed to get those bones between myself and Krosis and simply took shots at him after he hit those bones with his fireballs. It took a while but it was a fun fight. Perhaps if you used those bones also you could use your spells instead. He's the first Dragon Priest I've come across (and this is my 2nd char, I OP'd my first one accidentally with smithing and 1 shotting everything got boring)

Good luck!

Like others have indicated, an easy way to deal with these kinds of enemies at lower levels is to get something between them and you, then play ring around the rosie while taking potshots with ranged attacks. Takes a long time, but you'll survive.

I met him when i was around lvl 32 or so... he was really easy with dremora lords and fireball spell, even more than an ancient dragon ._.

First time I came across Krosis, I ran like a bat out of hell when I realized how little my sword was effecting his health, the second time, Krosis was not so lucky, archery dodge and sneak, took about 100 arrows, but he went down eventually, that was my first experience with the masks, and what a good mask that one turned out to be.

My fight against him was hell. It was my first dragon priest, and the bastard that killed Lydia.

I had no idea how tough they were, nor did I know that Krosis was there. I learned the word, heard his coffin pop, and turned around to have fire engulf the entire battlefield...I had no idea what was happening. I took a swing at him with my hammer, and took a good chunk of his health out, but his toughness wasn't the problem. That was the only hit I got on him at all; after that, he just kept backing up and shooting fireballs at me. So I sprinted for cover, and ended up hiding behind the curve of the word wall. I had no idea where Lydia was, and only saw the unmoving red dot on my compass. I tried archery, but thirty or so dwarven arrows did nothing. The only practical way I had to damage him was the Fire Breath shout, and I only have one word of it.

So every so often, I'd hit him with that, and he'd move. So I'd move. It ended with he and I circling the large vertical rock in the center of that outcropping, on opposite sides. Whenever I'd see him move, I'd move, staying on opposite ends of an invisible, straight line, like the hands of a clock fused in opposite direction. Then I'd pop out and breath fire at him. I fought him for almost thirty minutes IRL. When he was dead, I found Lydia's corpse, blown off the side of the mountain and slumped up against its wall, face forward.
