lydia carry weight problem

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 12:38 am

So as I have been playing with lydia as my follower the whole game, and i've noticed she has been able to carry progressively less weight. at first it wasn't a problem, seeing as i could just carry all the [censored]. however now she is limited to only being able to equip ebony armor, and cannot carry or equip anything else.

I've been through the skyrim wiki and it has been mostly unhelpful, as none of the known glitches with lydia cover this. i looked through the console commands, and used the "getav carryweight". this showed that her carry limit is 300 and yet i can only give her ebony armor.

Lastly, I tried pickpocketing her just to make sure there is nothing hidden. The only thing that shows up that isnt in her inventory is her steel shield.

you guys have any recommendations?

Not everything will show up in the pickpocket screen.... You can try opening the console, click on her, and type into the console:

removeallitems player

That should put everything she has into YOUR inventory. (save before you try this, just in case.)

She's probably got 100+ hidden bows in her inventory.

This.

I had the same problem with Iona, so it might be a general companion bug. They seem to get an extra invisible bow when they rejoin you after being dismissed. You can check how many she has by using
getitemcount 10e2dd
in the console, and then
removeitem 10e2dd x
(where x is the number of extras to remove).

I believe that this bug does, indeed, apply to all companions; they get an extra bow every time you dismiss them then take them on again, so they can carry gradually less and less stuff until they can't even take back their armour after you have improved it!

This wasn't in the release notes for 1.4.15.0.4 so there was no reason to expect it to be fixed, and it hasn't been.
