Companion Appreciation Thread

So what's your favorite companion?

I'm not looking for the best companion or anything, just your personal favorite.

I love Cicero, his random banter on locations are highly entertaining, he's just funny in general.

Cicero: "lol! Cicero? Crazy?! LOL Well that's just MADNESS! LOLOLOLOLOL!!"

Not original at all but Aela has been serving me well so far. At first I couldn't seem to sneak with her around. Now I don't seem to have any problems...huh.

My warrior character found a mage in Riften that was an excellent companion. Lydia kept getting in my way but this guy just stands back and throws fireballs and stuff .. its a nice change :)

I've had good luck with Lydia, but her "I'm sworn to carry your burdens" thing is REALLY grating on me. I'm looking for a new companion, preferably someone who can tank effectively but won't be constantly alerting people when I'm trying to sneak about(another of Lydia's faults).

It seems as though Faendal has a tendency to attack you if you are the agressor in a battle, or if he sees you stealing? He'd be dead pretty quickly if he joined my travels.

You just have to realize she's saying it Wonder Woman's voice when she says that with such resignation. She's voice acted by the same person, Susan Eisenberg, who played Wonder Woman in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, along with several of the DC movies.

Roggi Knot-beard

he knows everything about mead, and is a pretty good tank for a guy who sleeps in a tent.

I've mostly run with Vorstag. He's a good tank and he's friendly, if a bit of a whiner. I find his whining adorkable, though.

I took Lydia out for a while, and tried giving Agnis the Bulwark a go, but that whole "I am sworn to carry your burdens" shtick got old fast. Even though the mercenaries are getting paid, ones like Vorstag, Benor and Erik the Slayer seem friendlier than the housecarls.

edit- I forgot, Benor wasn't a mercenary, he was available after a brawl. Funny that all it takes is getting a beatdown from you and he says "you've been a good friend to me, that means something." Fisticuffs- the Nords' love language.

I used to have Lydia on all my adventures, but she died today :/ I laid her to rest in the shade on a cliff facing the river with a few mountain flowers and her weapons laid out next to her. Now I travel with Golldir ;) side note: nice to not get the constant reminder of how she was sworn to carry my burdens..

You can have Karliah as a companion? Oh me gee. Going to get her right now! I will marry her someday...

Derkeethus is my favorite at the moment. He's a good sneak, pretty decent with a bow (which means he doesn't always charge in and ruin my shots), and does reasonably well as a tank now that I have him decently geared. I like his little hum routine too.

Lydia got annoying fast.

I prefer to play with myself. :whistling:

Compainions are not helpful when you are a dirty little sneak thief like me. :ninja:

My Dead Thrall Savos. He summons two dremora lords everytime combat starts. I also summon two dremora lords. Nothing stands in our way.

While we are on the companions subject...

I have had Lydia FOREVER, but feel like getting rid of her because I am tired of her 'sworn to carry your burdens' comment and how I cannot sneak around without her alerting everyone. I am afraid to let her go though, skill-wise, because I've had her for so long. So my question is this -- Does your companion level up in skill, or are they 'as is' throughout all your adventures (aside from the armour and weapons you give them to use)? I don't want to have to pick up a new companion and start him/her off from scratch in skill...

I use Borgakh the steel heart, shes great, but for some reason won't use the ebony bow I gave her over the weak ass hunting bow She has.

The mage you get in Dawnstar. He actually enjoys carrying my stuff and has a different voice than almost all the 2H warrior mercs.

Jenassa. The girl is great for tank and range, has decent dialog, and occasionally makes sarcastic half-compliments about how I lack wisdom but have tons of courage.

I find Erandur to be delightful company, his "Running out of room eh?" line always gives me the opposite feeling that Lydia's trade command quote does.

I'm liking Marcurio. He's intelligent, albeit a little arrogant, and quite powerful. Will make for a great dark mage if I ever turn to the dark side...

1st companion Lydia : died in Mzulft
2nd companion Erandur : died near labyrinthian by a dragon
3rd and current companion : Benor

Since I'm a Mage Erandur wasn't a good companion for me since he's a caster too. He died pretty soon after I got him. Lydia lasted a long time but I found her pretty enjoying.

Benor is great. He's a two handed powerhouse that can carry a lot of heavy stuff. I have him equipped with several two handed swords including a cool glass one I found that I've enchanted with a fire enchantment. I've also given him an enchanted bow and 2 staffs ( which I had two off), the staff of zombies and the staff of flames.

In this one dungeon, he killed 4 bandits without any help from me (they were in another room and I was looking for the way to get there).

My favorite so far is the dumner from the Shrine of Azura, actually started using her in this game and she's pretty fun; a mage that can sneak :celebration:
