Maybe "Nord" doesn't just means the actual race, but it's like a nationality for all that live in Skyrim. Kinda like saying American, doesn't mean you are white/black or have certain body features but that you were born or naturalized in America.

Don't stress it too much. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why I was constantly called "Outlander" in Morrowind when I was a Dark Elf.
