Anyone else stuck at the launcher? I've tried deselecting the new textures and it still won't launch. I hit play and steam comes up and then the launcher reappears, waiting for me to do something.

I've been on hold for tech support for about 30 minutes now.

Anyone know anything helpful?



Edit: after an hour on the phone, a polite service tech told me very little. He seemed to think my graphics driver might be too old. Nvidia told me I have the most recent driver. I am trying a beta driver to see if that works.


Edit 2: Did not work, I have a non-working version of Skyrim. I have a disc, a code and everything else. Why do I own a game that doesn't work.

This isn't an MMO. It's a single player game. Down time should not happen. I'm infuriated but nothing I say to vent that frustration, so pretend you saw a long fitting rant for a poor person pissed at $60 wasted. I think steam is responsible but if I complain about it too much the forum Gestapo will threaten me with a ban.

I pre-ordered Skyrim months before the announcement of steam. I handed my money over before I knew Bethesda would make such a poor deal with a shoddy company like valve.


I am going to give bethesda some time to hammer this stuff out. Not too long though, I am about done. I think I want a refund. This isn't what I was agreeing to when I paid for it.

Has it ever worked for you? The game works for countless other people. I've had some bug issues, but have worked through them. I've played Bethesda games since Morrowind, and they have bugs, but generally they work fine.

Cant really help you if we dont know your specs. Do they meet recommended?
