Skyrim Crafting Rentals

Skyrim Crafting Rentals aims to bring a crueler and greedier would to Skyrim. Don't you find it odd that everyone lets you use their forge free of charge? No one complains when you walk into there house and use there Alchemy Lab, Every wizard is find with you just studying your newly found enchanted shield on the Arcane Enchanter? No long well the world be a free for all kindergarten sharing is caring kinda place. Farengar well want is 10 gold before he lets you use is Arcane Enchanter or Alchemy Lab. Adrianne Avenicci isn't sharing either, if you want to use her forge to create new weapons, its going to cost.

Why make such a mod?

For the same reason mods like Imps Hunger/Thirst/Sleep and Frostfall exist. This is to add a little more immersion into your game play, because who is really just going to let you walk up and use their forge? This mod really doesn't have any upside, though really 10 gold isn't to much of a down side.

What does the mod actually do?

It simple modifies the script for the individual crafting tools though out Skyrim. If the crafting area has a owner (Which none of the currently do) it informs you that someone owns it and well let you rent it for 10 gold. Though all of the scripts are done, they are really simple scripts, though, since I am still trying to figure out scripting for Papyrus it took about an hour to write them all and get them all working. Though when writing this mod, I did try to keep it as compatible as possible and with a little scripting as needed. It should work with any mod that doesn't edit the main scripts for the individual crating areas (I don't really think there are that many, if any) or the actual crafting area's them selves. (See Below Why/)

So if the scripts are done, Why is this a WIP?

Well because none of the crafting area's have ownership by default, I am sure their is a reason they weren't assigned to any one by Bethesda, I probably didn't seem like an important thing. I can't blame them, until today, I wouldn't have seen a reason to. So I have to go in and edit every single crafting area that belongs to someone, this does not mean the ones in the dungeons or forts, these are untouched and free to use. Bandits aren't paying for them why should you? So that is actually going to be the time consuming part. I am probably going to release this by regions, so once I completely go though Whiterun, Ill release v0.10 and so on. This is the best way I can think of doing it. It should go by pretty fast though. This also lets me fix any bugs users may come across?

I use [INSERT MOD HERE] mod, and it modifies the blacksmith in Whiterun?

I probably wont make any incompatibility patches until I have completed all of the holds of Skyrim. This doesn't mean, I wont try and find a way to make the scripts more compatible as I go. So please, when this is release and you come across a mod that doesn't work with this one let me know, I love trying to make things as dynamic as possible, so I would love to try and find a way to make the scripts better.

When are you going to release the first version?

Well I got school and work tomorrow so probably really late Wednesday night, like I said, its just a matter of going though and finding all of the individual crafting area's that need to be assigned to an owner and assigning them. Once a crafting area has a owner the script will automatically recognize it.

Wait, Does that mean that my [Insert House Mod] may charge me to use a crafting area?

Actually, yes, if for some reason the mod maker of [INSERT HOUSE MOD HERE]assigned an owner that wasnt the player, you will be asked to be to pay 10 gold to use it. I don't really see why they would assign an owner though. Your crafting area's well work normally, if they have no owner or are assigned to the player. I well not be making patches for mods that assign an owner to a crafting area though, this well be left to either the mod maker or your self to fix.

What if the mod maker left?

It'll be up to you to fix, it really isnt all that hard, you simple open the esp and find the crafting area and set the ownership to either none or player and it'll work normally. Ill write a real tutorial if this does become an actual problem.

This mod seems really simple, is there any other features you plan to add?

Actually, I would like to expand on this to make the NPC feel that they are more important then you. I am looking to add a feature that if the Owner is using the crafting area, they wont be distracted by you bothering them. This means you'll have to wait before you can speak with them or even use the crafting area they are using. Why, simple, to give the people of Skyrim a little more greed and self indulgence. I also want to figure out how to get the current owner and actually give them the 10 gold you spend. For the life of me I can't figure out how to get the owner of the crafting area and give them told gold.

So what does it look like?
