Companions' "Purity" Quest and Glenmoril Witchheads

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 2:25 pm

I have finished the Glory of the Dead quest. I am trying to start the Purity quest and then the rest of the Companion's quests. I was told I have to do miniquests and I have literally done 50+ miniquests from both Aela and Farkas. How do I start this quest?

My other problem is Glenmoril Witchheads. At some point in time, I got rid of them. I don't know where they are now either. I slaughtered all the witches and took all of the heads and now they're all gone. What do I do? Do I need them to start Purity? I want to get rid of being a vampire but now I can't and it's extremely annoying.

Well, you need a witchhead to cure yourself, you need one to cure farkas, vilkas (can you cure Alea? I never get the dialogue and the work quests seem endless).

My question is:
After you cure Vilkas and Farkas what else is there to do? I stopped doing the "looking for work" quests thinking they were endless and repeating as I got the same quest from Alea a couple times.

EDIT:
To get them, first I would use google and try to find a way in game and if not then I would open the console and locate their item ID and add a couple to your person.

I am aware of the witchhead. I dropped them and I am unable to get them. I haven't even been able to start the quest but I know there's more companion quests by looking it up.

I thought they were ending quests too. I don't know what to think.

The only thing I noticed was that after curing Vilkas and Farkas I still had 4 heads, so I wonder what my character threw on the fire

there are 5 witch heads in total i think. one for Old Harbinger, Vilkas, farkas,Alea and yourself. there is never and option to "cure" Alea.
Purity quest will have several goals depending upon what you have done previous; if you have no wicthes heads then you will be told to go gather them from the coven again. if you have them then the companion will reuqest you journey to Harbingers Tomb and cure them in the usual manner.
If you have "lost" the heads then chances are you need to hunt down the item code on a wiki and spawn a new head for yourself to continue the quests.
Alea will only offer to hunt for Hircines tokens once the Vilkas and Farkas are cured i think you will find.
so if you dont know where the heads are your kind of scuppered.
to activate the Purity quests you need talk to 3 main companions and get them to return to Jorvaskyr (Alea, Farkas and Vilkas); once back there you will get Radiant quests to hunt animals etc
Vilkas and Farkas have "special" radiant quests like dragon hunting and its usually after one of those that a new conversation option will appear about a "personal" problem they are having; following that conversation will activate Purity.
there are no more companion quests after these!
final tier quests for Companions are PURITY (twice) and HIRCINES TOTEMS (twice, one per token; activate same quest twice)

The weird thing is that I have done all the totem quests. I have not got the purity quests and I do not have the witchheads; They are lost. I have done all of these sides quests so many times too.

This quest is seriously flawed to be honest, I had the heads and after getting the dialogue from Vilkas saying he had a personal thing he wanted to do (basically the set up to the Purity quest) I agreed to help and the quest started, the problem is it auto completed and he disappeared. After a search on google it's a known issue and a fix suggested was to speak to Vilkas but before accepting the quest speak to Fargas first and do the Fargas cure and that apparently was supposed to fix it. The problem for me is I never get the dialogue option so that fix didn't work. So I was stuck.

I kept my clean save and did some tests before going back to the clean save and moving on. Using the console to complete Vilkas' quest worked and I was able to cure myself (The console command also seemed to cure Fargas) I cured myself but the problem there was when I went back to get Lydia to follow she thought I had a follower. Basically the console complete quest fix didn't clear Vilkas as a follower so I could never get another follower.

I went back to my clean save and I'll stay as a werewolf

I only cured myself after Kodlak letting the others keep their lycanthropy and what not.

I sold the rest.

Same problem as above. After curing Kodlak, I threw another head inside the fire and cured myself.
Urm... but I still have a bunch of heads(that are supposedly for Vilkas, Farkas and Aela? Is it even possible to cure them?) left and clicking on the fire does nothing. Any clues on that?

EDIT: I've also noticed that my stats are probably bugged, since the "Days spent as a Werewolf" keeps filling even though I am supposed to be cured. :sadvaultboy:

EDIT2: So, now if I understand it correctly, the Companions can be cured, but you have to keep doing their quests in order to have them tell you about it?

I have the same problem as you do and I've looked up every possible solution to this but there's none at the moment. I't seems like it's bugged. Somebody needs to fix this. I'm just frustrated about not getting this quest done.

The only way I got either Hircine's Totem or a Purity quest to start was to ask the same leader for 'work' right after completing work for that leader. Unfortunately, Farkas never has a 'work' conversation option, so I can't get work from him, but if I get Purity from Vilkas first, he never follows me (I watched him walk to his bed and go to sleep after accepting Purity from him. Then he told me I already had a companion when I asked him to follow me. Yeah, jerk, YOU.) Frustration. Guess I need to go do quests for some other group.

Same problem kinda... Only vilkas and Aela offer me unlimited go kill this quests...

Farkas dialogue only consists of training and following me >_<

I've done tons of those go kill this quests for the other two it never changes.
