Yngol Barrow graphics issue

Graphics Issue

I have taken screenshots to show what I see. I think I was in this Barrow before Patches 1.2 and 1.3 and it was normal. The only thing I changed on my computer before Patch 1.3 was to update my Nvidia driver to 280.26 for my 460M graphics card. Anyone know if this is a Nvidia issue or a Skyrim issue?

Everything looks normal when I approach Yngol Barrow (near Windhelm). When I enter, I get a flash of a normal tunnel (lucky to get this screenshot it was so fast) but then it goes to a dark blurry mess with the animation still working with the little balls of light and I can catch Lydia's shadow in there. Hard to find my way out of the tunnel and the Tab key to load the menu goes dead but it works outside. The ESC key will let me quit though.

I went into the back entrance for Yngol Barrow and the appearance was normal. I tested some other Barrows and they were normal.

I made a Restore Point before downloading the Nvidia driver...should I go back or is it Skyrim? Thank you.

Very odd but then I got a video problem as well after 1.3 patch I got fog inside all over the place. You could try the restore point but I do not think it would set skyrim back to 1.2. I got the nvidia beta driver so it might be worth try to reinstall your old drivers.

Thanks, Kenny. That fog inside could be related. I tend to think it isn't the Nvidia driver because so far it's only in that one place but I thought I should ask since that's the only thing that was different on my system. If I find more of this, I might test it by going back to the pre-Nvidia driver restore point though. So far, it's my only problem besides some bad lag that clears up when I reboot. I know they're working on that. I appreciate your response. :)

This issue apparently presents itself if you have a follower. I've tried it both with and without Lydia following me into the cell and it functions without any issues without her. Not sure what the deal is but it's definitely a bug.

If you want to get through the Barrow just go in without your follower.

Thank you, acumen. Mission accomplished by leaving my follower waiting outside. I'll add this to the unofficial bugs thread later. This was the barrow I had been in before with Lydia and the first puzzle solution was still in place and the enemy hadn't respawned. I had only gone so far because I didn't have what I needed to open the inner door. Now I did. I went in alone and was able to finish the quest but the button to open that back door didn't work so I had to leave back at the front entrance again. It's done though...a bit buggy but done. I'm glad you saw my post, thanks again. :)

No worries. There are apparently some issues with scripts breaking when you enter an area that's quest related before actually receiving a quest. That may be why the rear exit of the barrow doesn't function correctly.

Happy questing. Hopefully you don't run into anymore major bugs. If you need any help in the future these 2 sites may be of some help: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Skyrim & http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/The_Elder_Scrolls_V:_Skyrim.

They both get updated pretty often with user comments of bugs and other abnormalities.

Bump for reference.

I can confirm myself that the fix of entering alone (leave the follower outside) fixed the issue. I encountered this bug earlier today without knowing about hte glitch and it was a trip :teehee:

Good to know.

I had been in there with Lydia before ( had Pearl Claw ) and went to the end with no problem.
But upon finding the Glowy thing at the end ( Helm ? ) I realized I didn't have quest for that ,so loaded a game outside and bypassed it for later. ( When I got the quest for the Barrow instead of just having the Claw for it )
But that was before the latest update.

Companions do more damage to quest scripting then anything else.

Mage College....guy wouldn't toss fireball at me until I left Lydia at the door.

If it wasn't for the weight of heavy armor I'd never use companions

I had the same problem. I've made a http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a39/mariedanj/Skyrim/?action=view¤t=YngolBarrowBug.mp4 illustrating the problem. The first time I told Lydia to wait it didn't work, but the next time it did. I think I'm just going to come back later, if it's part of a quest I didn't get yet. (I have an Radeon HD 6870 video card, FYI.)
