Crossfirex AMD HD 6570 issue

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 10:29 pm

Hi, I have two AMD HD 6570 that I am trying to run in crossfire with skyrim. I am having some issues with it however. While in crossfire mode, the game flashes/flickers on menus and during gameplay. It does not do this during running the game on only one card.

Any ideas?

Heres the specs for my system.

AMD FX 8120 3.2GHz
8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM
1TB WD HDD
1000w PSU
SABERTOOTH 990FX MB
AMD RADEON HD 6570 x2 in CFX
WIN 7 Home Premium x64

You haven't named the profile you are using, nor the graphics driver. Both Crossfire and SLI tend to be quite problematic in some games, this one included, without a well-matched driver and profile.

Beyond that, the practicality of either Crossfire or SLI at low end levels is questionable, since by merely stepping up to a next level, spending less than the cost of the two lesser cards, you eliminate all such complications and get equal performance, if not better.

I have the 12.2 preview drivers. I guess I don't understand what you mean by profile?

Alright, I think I figured out this profile thing. I selected TESV.exe and pretty much selected all application settings to be used and Xfire in default mode. Stuttering flickering nonsense.

Alright, I don't get it. I started up Skyrim with the same exact settings I used before in CFX yesterday when it worked. Flickering is back. I've tried running CFX in AFR, 1x1, Default, and Pre-Defined Profiles from AMD. Nothing seems to work.

Go to your application profiles and ensure that AMD CrossFireX? Mode is set to Use AMD Pre-defined Profile Application Profile: TESV.exe

Note that you must SAVE the profile, you simply cannot just push apply.

It is set to do so. Still flickering. It's kind of odd. It's not the whole screen, just several black and grey blocks flickering on and off diagonally from top left to bottom right.
