First off, this is my first post

Secondly, i need help with my game on PC. I used to manually install mods into the Data folder, but when the Steam Workshop came out i decided to delete/uninstall all the mods i had, and replace them with their Workshop counter-parts. This worked ok, or so i thought. After loading the game up i played as normal. Did 2 or 3 hours of gameplay, then went to save it. I saved it but a few minutes later Adrianne Avenicci, a merchant of Whiterun, was killed. So i reloaded the game. Or i tried, i found that it hadn't saved. Turns out it saves, but it won't load them. It as though the game cant read game saves made after i put those mods in. So i deleted all the mods to try and fix it. Then it got worse. When i load the game up, it would close before it even reached the main menu. And in the rare case it would get to the game, it closes when i hit 'Start and RT'(360 controller), which i what i need to do to save the game. So now the game is near enough totally broke.

I've tried reinstalling from the game disc,which didn't worlk. I've tried uninstalling the game from the game disc, then re-downloading all 8gb of the Data again and installing, which also didn't work.

I'm pretty n00bish at computers but i'm not totally daft at them, so any help is appreciated.

It's your savegames. They are now bugged.
I believe you should be able (by wiping/reinstalling/whatever it takes) to get the game running again.
But I doubt your savegames will ever load.
You see, those old mods are all in there (your savegame) now, even though you uninstalled them from Skyrim.

If your Skyrim is so messed that it won't even run - I mean you can't even get to your game saves - you can fix that!
Might be a bit of work, heheh...
But any save with mods in it may have perished and be no longer loadable/usable.

Well i re-attached all the mods, since i had them saved on my PC. It loads but still closes when i hit Start and RT to try and save. I suppose i don't have any major qualms with starting the game again, but i need to be able to save my game before i start it again.

Also just to add, if your using Vista or Win7 make sure Steam is not installed in program files. These OS have "issues" with any games that are installed in this folder due to the OS built in protection against damage. Move Steam to a folder such as C:/My Games/Steam or similar named one.

I'm running 64 bit so i have a (x86) Program Files folder in my Computer. I never knew nor realised i would have problems. It seems to be fine running where it is and i'm a bit iffy about moving the files and folders. Plus i tried before it wouldn't work. It moved it but the game wouldn't run, for exactly that reason.

So do you guys think i should try starting a new game then and deleting my old saves?

Did you try verifying your game files via Steam? As for the advice about program files... we had an argument on these forums a while ago and I remain unconvinced that program files interferes with anything. I've simply never seen this problem. I can't see how using a different directory would hurt, though.

Move Steam out of there. Even if it doesn't help now, it will help with potential issues. Refresh the INI files as well. They're in Documents/Games/Syrim

I deleted all the game saves and most of the mods. Its working now and saving fine, thanks guys.

Now, can anyone direct me to the nearest Forum-Pub, i need a drink after all this.
