After clearing Nightcaller Temple and finishing the Skull of Corruption part of the quest, Erandur offers his services as a follower and then heads back to the small area he has for Mara and I stay behind to look for loot before leaving. I look at each body and as I look at one Orc...it says Search on him...I hear, "What are you looking at?" and he gets up and tries to kick my butt. I was so shocked and then laughed about it. Was this the devs sense of humor? haha. Or was it a glitch? Did it happen to anyone else?

Funkily enough, yeah, I just did that and had a left over Orc that didn't wake during the first part. I don't recall what he said though, I was going to loot him and he moved, I dual power attacked him. He said "Uuuunnhhhh" after that.

Yep, this happened to me as well. Apparently he wasn't dead, but was "asleep" per the quest and just never woke during the main run-through. He said the same thing, stood up, and attacked me, unsuccessfully.
