Is there a fix for 2x6870's flickering in crossfire?

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 8:43 pm

Seriously wtf is up with this? Currently I have one Nvidia 550ti which runs better than an ati 6870, and to top it off I cant even run the game in crossfire because of the texture flickering.

So does anyone know if there is a fix for this? I have tried both 12.1 and 12.2 drivers to no avail.

The latest preview drivers for Ati and the latest profiles are apparently pretty good. Might be worth checking out.

Have you tinkered with adaptive anti aliasing any?

Also, can you describe the flashing... like textures flashing in and out sounds like a transparency aliasing issue. However, distant flashing on mountains and sometimes snow on distant mountains will sort of twinkle/shimmer which is normal behavior from what i've seen being an owner of both Nvidia and AMD.

It's definitely a driver problem, and it's affecting a number of cards. I've reported the issue to AMD, but I'm not sure if they're going to look at it or not.

Try contacting their support people via their http://emailcustomercare.amd.com/. If you do, mention that someone else has reported the same problem (service request #8200473858) but for different hardware. This is an indication that the drivers are at fault, not the specific hardware.

Can you clarify exactly what is going on with this driver bug, because I have CFX setup as well and would like to know if i'm affected.

Not only am i dealing with the flashing but i got horrible FPS when running crossfire 6870s. Is this an issue on bethesda's end or on AMD's drivers?

I have a dual 6950 with 12.2 preview and no problems at all. So it could be card specific problem.

BTW Anti Aliasing mode set to Adaptive Multi-sample AA (in CCC) will cause some texture problems. Try Super Sample AA or Multi-sample AA.

Two HD6970′s in Crossfire as well and no probs, especially since patch 1.4 it runs very smooth

I am also using the 12.2 Catalyst preview drivers with the TESV crossfire profile selected.

Is it merely flickering or does the game run choppy/stutter? If it is only flicker and the game runs smooth apart from that it would narrow it down to either crossfire settings (in combination with your specific card I guess) or something with your refresh rate being icky I think.

I run 2x 6870 1GBs in CrossFire, Catalyst 12.1, and aside from jagged shadows / intermittent shadow flickering I have no problems running the game smoothly. No massive texture flickering.

I'd say try to reinstall the drivers... Uninstall, DriveSweeper, reinstall. See if that helps.

If not it might be a bad/failing card.
