Seriously I am kinda tired

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 8:06 pm

Oh dear.
I worked my ass through lots of tweaks and guides and bla and i finally got my skyrim stable with patch 1.3. No crashes, no more stress.
I just finished my exams at the university and started steam. And by the installation of an 16 MB Patch everything is [censored] up again. All the work and trouble night after night a month ago for nothing. Reinstalled steam, drivers, the game. Running it blank, running it on low, running it on high ress, everthings useless. All the tweaks from 1.3 didn't work.

Do anyone besides remember the time when you simple installed a game and it worked? Damn you Skyrim! Gemme back 1.3 -.-

The game version has changed, so most mods ill need to be updated. Ini file tweaks may also no longer be stable with the new version.

Delete your INIs and see if that helps.

Friend, Skyrim is dead-simple and easy to install. It works (reliably).
I get a CTD after maybe ~6 hours uninterrupted play... but there are tell-tale signs before crash.
Tweaks and guides and bla won't necessarily get the game running well!
It starts with your PC, and your ATI or nVidia control panel, before the game is even installed.
Set up your rig for games, #1. Clean, lean & mean.
Then set up your vidcard control panel (I use nVidia) with all high-performance or application-controlled settings.
Reboot.
Accept whatever settings the automatic thing recommends (ie. medium).
But change setting to your native resolution (1680 x 1050 or more probably 1920 x 1080) with no AntiAliasing.
I use no AA, 8x AF and the FXAA un-ticked.

If your PC is configured, maintained and solid, and meets the game spec, the latest v1.4.10.04 version should fire right up.
I have 800 hours on this game with the bone-stock default .ini file and no tweaks.
Native resolution, no AA. Looks fantastic, plays very well.

Overall this game is far friendlier and more solid than FO3/NV when first released...
But your problems are clearly specific to you. Complaints to Beth won't help.
I will help you if I am able. We can and will get the game running for you,
Regards

I really appreciate your concirn. Thank you :) I will give it a try right now.

After all I never changed any of the .ini files before on 1.3. Actually all I needed to run it stable for about 9/10 hours was to definitly restrict the Vsynch in Catalyst Control Center.

That fixed it all for me with 1.3. Quite simple.

Beth no offence. I was barely tired and disappointed in my own rather vague IT knowledge.

Anyone here with expierience on the amd 12.1?

I can only tell that I am running with the preview drivers 12.2 , which does some perfomance boost to skyrim. Havent any problem with 12.2 until now.

regardless of all the different settings I choose in CCC and ingame the game crashes after five minutes. what the hell did i do wrong in comparison to one month ago.

guess my move of choice is to re install the whole win7.

/@zocks: i am going to try that one.

In Catalyst set everything in the 3d applicaion settings to "applicaiton controlled", set Catalyst AI to "default" and disable "Adaptive anti-ailiasing" (AAA). Thats your default catalyst settings for every game. Then the in the game set the graphics to something like medium or high and if its got good FPS try increasing settings one step and one settings at a time till you get the best level of performance vs visuals.

Also re-installing your operating system is a step of last resort and should only be done if your having major system wide problems.

A intengrty cache test from steam may be a good idea aswell.. if you have any mods, you may need to reinstall them after it.

Problem is: It is no matter of fps, it simply crashes. Screen freezes or turns black. Whenever that happens, I need to manually reboot the pc. In 1.3 this happened after 30 min of gameplay and got fixed by turning of the Vsync. Afterwards running without any kind of trouble on medium settings. My system is nothing like the computer of Gryphon.

Prozessor Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz
ATI Radeao HD 5770, 1GB GDDR5
4 GB Ram

Seriously, guys. It's still elegal to play with a cracked 1.3 when the original game keeps crashing, isn't it? :/

Have you tried wiping the INI files? It's hard to tell. Also, have you verified the files yet?

I think you need to just reinstall the game and go with the 1.4 patch. Backup your savegames first because they might very well still work. I'm also inclined to think that your problem is hardware related... like, maybe your system is over heating? Maybe you have some woefully out of date BIOS drivers? Your rig sounds like it should be a little faster than mine and I run Skyrim fine. You might have dust bunnies in there

I feal like a total psychopath right now. I went out for a couple of beers tonight and returned motivated to check up a little more preciese. Set CCC default, set Skyrim default, put on Fraps, put on CPUID Hardware Monitor. Pulled of Skyrim on windowmode 1280x960, highress maxed out, AA8x, AF16x, FAXX on, vSynch on -> 40 fps, cpu temp: 58°C, northbridge: 50°C, GPU 54°C ... the awkward moment when everything works just fine when you complained and whined @ the official forums -_-

if you think you have exhausted all the software and system tweaks and setup to fix the problem, this start hint problem at hardware level.

ram, heat, power supply, bus speed, clocking, etc.

If you are using a 32 bit system you may want to download this help file from the nexus. My wife's pc was put together about 2 years ago from bits an pieces lol. She uses a 32 bit windows 7. she started playing on the pc at path 1.3. Kept ctding here and there. After applying this help file she is running on patch 1.4 like butter. Not a single crash. Really makes me mad lol.
Myself, I'm having the crash problem on my $2k+ uber rig with all the niftly sli'd gaggets you can imagine. I call it uber but it's more on the mid upper range. Was working fine pre patch 1.4 with 60fps solid just about anywhere, even around riften. Skryim auto detected my setup and put me at ultra high. And whatever they did my rig runs even smoother even with the 2 hd textures using ugrid 7 and modded heavely, but bamb out of nowhere either freeze, ctd, or the black screen of death that makes me have to kill my pc with the power strip then restart. That last one is damn scary as hell. But i'm ranting now.
Here is the thread that may help all the 32 bit users. FYI, the wife has almost the same mods as I do. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=4192
Wife's pc's GPU invidia failed and said she needed to upgrade lol so that tells you how old her machine is.
I run an asus p6p67 pro motherboard with 2 evga gtx 560ti sli and a second gen i5 2500k 3.3gig with 8 gigs of ram.

wipe out the game, wipeout steam, forget the saves, shift the mods out to another drive, clean your registry,"important" wipe your "c" drives free space.

reload skyrim,default settings

play for an hour,if sweet load one mod, play for an hour, and so on and so on.

"important" forget using old saves, start again

sux

can't say it will work but it's better than reloading windows.
