Hours Played vs Save File Size

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 2:09 am

Hi,

Just to get an idea, can you all post the hours you've logged on a particular character vs the size of it's latest save file?

To get the ball rolling, I have 298 hours on my one and only character who's save file is a fairly reasonable 12.4MB.

My oldest save is from 60 hours in, which is 12 MB. My most recent file of 80 hours in is also around 12 MB. It seems to be fairly stable at that size.

Xbox 360: 62.4 hours | 7.3mb

Friend on PS3: 39.6 hours | 43mb

Protip: Go into Breezehome (or probably any player house) and just let the game run for a few hours with your character standing there if you want to reduce the file size.

None. Before 1.4, I had any number of CTD issues but everything is working fine now. :) My only problem is one of my 580s overheating but that's a problem with the card. Skyrim is running great! That's with the high-res texture pack and a few simple mods.

As a side note, I doubt that the size of the save file counts for anything (except taking up a little HD space); junk data *IN* the file did cause problems - pre 1.4 - but that issue seems to have been well and truly fixed.

Bloat in 1.4 on my fresh character is down considerably that said they could definitely change corpses to possess their shields and weapons so an addon isn't need as well as do something about the arrow cap.

I'm 163 hours in and my save is 8.2MB. I don't use destruction magic a lot so there's really not many ash piles around. Also, I'm primarily an archer so any arrows laying around, I pick up.

Yeah level 21 6.9 MB no mods and I have been picking up any weapons and shields dropped and arrows etc. Also a stealth character so I have been sneaking past whole packs of enemies.

Hmmm ok, you all have normal size save files. I have a heavily modded skyrim, script dragon, skse etc. I hadto abandon my level 9 toon because the save file got to 58mb. This caused serious problems such as dips in fps from solid 60 to 5. CTD when nearing major places. I re-rolled several other toons to makes sure the save files were the problem. Now my new toon of level 2 and 23 mins game time has a save file of 3mb!
