Hi all - just wondering if anyone else has ever has this problem...

Upon visiting the College of Winterhold for the first time for this character, there is a raging spell battle going on in the courtyard with everyone vs. Phantasmus (some unfortunate bearded dude). Clearly he is an essential NPC, because he can't die and when I join in the battle and hit him I get the "I'm on your side" thing. Yet I'm supposed to talk to Myrabel (sp?) the College pitbull to get her to give me the tour. She's too busy chucking fireballs at Phantasmus though. In my previous run-through of the game, didn't have this problem.

Anyone else see this? Any suggestions for a fix?

I've got updated Skyrim, DLC, and heavily modded...and I'm not discounting the possibility that a mod has caused this. But before I start trying to isolate any particular mod, just thought I'd fly the flag and see if anyone has specific advice/insight into the cause.

First off, disable all the mods and wait out the respawn period in the middle of nowhere. It could just be case of the AI engine getting confused, but I'd disable the mods and wait for the respawn first.

Hopefully, that'll help right it.
