ok, i decided to help arniel with his quest, but first i looked it up on UESP wiki to make sure i can spot any bugs... everything went fine until the third quest, the warped soul gem duplicated, but in the final heating, it went back to being a single gem, thankfully... arniel accepted the gem and said he was waiting for something to be delivered, then.

of course, as UESP pointed out, the final objective's diamond in the third quest remains hollow, but UESP said it doesnt affect gameplay, so i went on.

...arniel just sat there, so i talked to him again... but it wont bring up any dialogue with him, he just spouts the usual one-liners like i have no business with him.

how the [censored] do i start the final quest and get my reward that i worked for?!

i decided to check UESP's page on the final part of arniel's endeaver... but the site is still kinda empty when it comes to skyrim info.

all it has is the quick walkthrough... the first step is to "talk to arniel in the hall of countenance"... is that where he has to be in order for the dialogue to open up?

well... HE'S NEVER THERE!

he just sits on his ass in the hall of attainment, now... WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?!

The quest has a lot of glitches. If you're on the PC you could try to use the command "setstage MGRArniel03 200" I used it since the gem convectors broke when I duel wielded the spell. Then I found the item, and it broke again you just get the marker on the item's container even if it's empty.

Considering the item and the quest's payoff though I'd rather have the item.

I think you have to wait a few days, then talk to him.

EDIT: Yup. Guide says wait 30 hours at this stage, then talk to Arniel to begin the next part.

did the quest complete properly in your journal?

yeah... i figured it out immediately after i asked for help... as usual.

i fast traveled to markarth then all the way back to the college.

anyway... is keening supposed to have an empty enchantment charge meter?

it says it absorbs 10 health, magicka, and stamina, but the charge meter is empty, and i cant charge it... is this normal?

also, one more question... can i take the warped soul gem and store it away, or does it cause glitches if i take it, and i should just leave it alone?

Edit: just out of curiosity... i wonder why keening no longer harms you? its a great replication of the one from morrowind, but god does the enchantment svck compared to morrowind's... and its base strength is so weak.

i wonder what they're gonna say in defense of this... its kind of a big blow against the lore, isnt it?

seems so weird to have keening, but no sunder or wraithguard... its like wearing a shirt but no pants and underwear in public.

for some reason, thats how it is with me... if this is a glitch... then maybe i'll just forget about this quest and reload back to before i even attempted it, and wait for bethesda to fix it.

hope Gstaff hears about this crap and reports it to bethesda so they can add this quest to their list of fixes to make in the next patch.

I don't know that it's possible to charge it without using the console. I also seem to remember that it could be disenchanted when I had it, but I'm not sure. No longer have the save, so can't verify and I don't know what you'd get as a result if you can. (Seems kind of strange for an artifact like Keening to be disenchant-able though. )

No idea if it's working as intended or a bug.

ok, well i managed to get an answer on gamefaqs... pretty bad i got a clear answer on that site instead of this one.

anyway, apparently some artifact weapons have unlimited charge, and keening is one of them... strange that their bars appear empty, instead of always full, though... bethesda should atleast change that.
