amd 12.2 precertified drivers bug

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 11:00 pm

Just a warning for anyone interested in these.

I always grab the latest and haven't had any problems up till now, but after installing the precertified 12.2 tonite I had a strange problem with little bitty empty squares all over the place in skyrim.

I am uninstalling and going back to 12.2 preview. Hope it corrects this! I would avoid these for now.

o werd....thanks for the heads up :D
btw do you get random flickering water on your AMD card sometimes after a fast travel? seems to be only as of late and if I say leave the grid or cell and come back its fixed.

Haven't noticed flickering water.

Going back to 12.2 Preview fixed it! That'll teach me to wait a day or 2 after release.

Was it like the screenshots posted http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=425&threadid=158706&enterthread=y Seems like you're not the only one with this issue--must be something screwy with the pre-WHQL drivers.

Hopefully AMD fixes it before certification goes through. Have you sent them any info about this http://www.amdsurveys.com/se.ashx?s=5A1E27D27E29B0E3 or their regular support?

That was the same thread I linked to. Not sure why the link came up dead for you; it works for me. Who knows. Glad to hear you submitted feedback, though. It may be too late for a fix to go out with the initial WHQL drivers, but if nothing else, there may be a hotfix shortly thereafter.

In the meantime, I'm seeing scattered reports of this issue with both 12.2 pre-WHQL and the just-leaked 12.3 release candidate. I'd definitely recommend people stay with 12.1 or the 12.2 preview; those both seem to be doing fine with Skyrim. :ninja:

I tried the new drivers with my 4870x2 and didn't see any artifacts. I only tested it for about 5 minutes at a stretch though. I also tried changing AA settings but couldn't get it to happen. For anyone who experienced this, did you have the problem right away or was it a relatively rare occurrence?
