Race abilities

Hi !

I have one HUUUGGE question.

Let's say : Breton vs Orc

Orc has lets say +10 in block
Breton Doesn't

Is not having the +10 block the only difference between them ? Because I can easly bypass an initial bonus by training. What I mean is:

In the description, the game says orcs are good at combat. The game says Bretons are less good at combat than orcs.

Does the game say this only based on initial stats ? Or are there other factors ? Like when you compare an orc and a breton with the SAME stats, equipment, etc, the orc would hit harder.

Thanks !

Different races start with different base skill point levels. IE High elves have magic in the 20's to start with rather than 10-15.

You can build up the skills that aren't already increased when you start. Choosing one race over another based on their initial stats shouldn't hinder your decision on which race you really want to choose.

I play a Khajiit among other races and i havnt noticed any kind of speed increase. If they are faster, which I don't think they are, it's negligible. Which is disappointing to me.

Anyway, on topic, if wha your asking is if there is a difference between two races with the same skill, no there isn't. Example: a Breton with a 36 two-hand weapon skill will hit just as hard as an Orc with a 36 two-hand weapon skill (as long as they have the same perks, weapon, ect...)

No hidden bonuses. The initial skill bonus is irrelevant since you can train the skill you want, it will just start lower. Example: my breton has never once cast a conjuration spell, so even though I am +10 to it, that doesn't matter. A breton with 100 blade will do the same as a orc with 100 blade- all other things being equal.

I suspect the speed increase is a mis-reading of the stats. In Oblivion and Fallout there was no movement parity, shorter individuals inherently move slower than tall ones.

Since khajiit are the second shortest race in Oblivion, they were second slowest, despite being portrayed as being nimble and acrobatic. It may be they introduced a speed "bonus" to offset their height to maintain parity between them and the taller races.
