Many people in Riften are complaiming about the Black-Briar family, corrupted Jarl and thieves guild. These signals they have gave me have made me to believe there's somekind of questline to drive out the Black-Briar family and get a new Jarl in the town to make it better place to live. My only problem is that I'm not able to find how to start a questline for it. So have anyone idea which npc is connected with this kind of quests and can give me the first quest?

there is no quest. the black-briars, thieves guild members, and jarl are essential and will never, ever ever be stopped because their petty criminal racket is somehow above the abilities of dovahkiin the GOD SLAYER.

but really, before we do any of that i think the people of riften really need to shift their priorities to the atrocious state of the waste removal services. the corpses of thieves keep piling up, but nobody ever thinks to get rid of them!

Don't worry. It gets worse.

Remove the entire black briar family from the essential list...you know what to do from there.

My Khajiit has been planning a hit on Maven Black-Briar. She's essential? Ugh.

On my Save-game, I removed the essential status from Maven, killed her and trapped her soul in my Black Soul Gem.


Then I went to the nearest enchanting table and used said soul gem to enchant a pair of dirty boots with + stamina.

It's a shame that giving players the ability to shape the game world even remotely wasn't on the list of priorities when designing the game.

Please tell me how to remove essential status so I can actually roleplay in my roleplaying game.

Maven's daughter, the aspiring alchemist isn't essential. I accidentally killed her trying to off her brother, who I found out is essential.
