Slow down and blue textures with HD texture pack

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 2:24 am

Hey all,

I usually play the game on max settings (minus reflect sky) and I thought i was meeting the min criteria for the HD texture pack so i downloaded it and played with it but there has been some stuttering and longer loading times (this one is understandable) but when i got to Riften there was a blue texture on a tree stump.

I disabled AA and i think it ran without stuttering but the blue texture was still there. I disabled the texture packs and went back and everything was fine.

So my question is should i run the HD texture packs without AA (and enable FXAA) so that there is no stuttering or does that defeat the purpose of having the texture pack? Or should i just play with the original textures at higher settings like before? (I prefer to play the game fluidly i suppose than worry about texture corruptions and i think the game still looks fine at normal textures)

Some specs from Dxdiag follow:

Processor : intel core i5 cpu, 750 @2.67 GHZ (4 cpus), ~2.7 GHZ
Memory: 4096 MB RAM
Page file: 2825 MB used, 5347 MB available,
Direct X 11

display settings:

ATI radeon HD 5800 series
Dac type: internal DAC (400 MHz)
Approx total memory : 2801 MB
Driver version : 8.930.0.0

if you need more info pls let me know.

The blue stump is apparently a texture bug with HD Texture Pack. You can see the same bug in the Markath marketplace. Always repeated. Unlike SOME other texture bugs.

There is a mod that fixes the few texture errors with the pack.

As for running this, you may either want to turn off some background apps or get some more RAM. The game will use more than the 1.3 GB or RAM you have available (2825 MB used out of 4096) and using the swap file in the HDD will cause stutterage.

The texture pack ran fine for me, other than CTD's after a while, so I stopped using it. Also, the pack is broken up into World and Items (I forget which is which) so you can try just checking one or the other ESP.

Note, if you decide to not use these, then do not deleted them, just uncheck the ESPs, otherwise Steam will download them again.

If i use FXAA and lower the graphics a bit will that reduce the stutter at all?

I have just unchecked them for the time being. Perhaps i will leave them until they are fixed officially. For the time being I would rather not download user created content.
