Bethesda: What are you doing about Vampires?

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 10:04 am

From what I've read (and asked myself) the Vampiris Sanguine virus has received some pretty nasty community responses.

Everyone keeps mentioning a mod will be needed to correct the current system. I find myself a little confused at how Bethesda arrived at the decision to go this route, but hey, I love the game. No complaining here.

I'm curious if Bethesda is going to patch the current system, or if I should simply wait until the creation kit is released and someone (likely, many) will develop a decent mod for it. Although, I'd really prefer an official fix!

All the best,

"Fix" implies that there is something broken, and "broken" implies that it does not work as intended.

I guess the real question is whether or not Bethesda thinks Vampirism works the way they wanted it to. If that's the case (and its likely), I wouldn't bet on any patches. It will likely be something the community has to take on.

The only complaint that most people are throwing is how they don't burn to death in the sunlight, which is far from accurate to the lore of any vampire story before 1922, which is when Hollywood began grabbing a hold of the vampire and perverting the lore into nonsensical dribble. No reason why they should be killed by sunlight; weakened, yes. But never killed.

Sounds like something they could expand upon with a DLC.
