Rogue Armor

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 6:31 pm

I started a new rogue because my first one is bugged beyond bugged. Quests, not really the character.

My first Rogue had glass armor and generally had a better time of getting items and leveling up and sneak was impressive.

My second non bugged rogue is wearing leather and is basically getting his rear end handed to him. I have even stopped taking the sneak and bow perks just to get Smithing up to make better weapons. Just not finding the 'Good Loot' that made my first one a decent character.

So I'm going back to Glass Armor even though it looks like crap for a sneakie thief and I'm making Deadric weapons just as soon as I'm able.

Anyone else run into a gimped character like this? Or notice a change in loot tables with the new patches?

What? I do not understand the post. Also you don't need the whole laundry list of smith perks to succeed- Unless your ambition is to be a town blacksmith.

In a nutshell - my second thief character isn't near as cool or as good as my first thief.

Like I said he's not finding the good loot, nor does sneak seem to work as well.

Leather armor seems to be worthless and servers no purpose.

I didn't get it, until i realised i feel the same.

He wants better armour for a stealthy character, and glass doesn't exactly look the part. I am the same, but incase you didn't know Nightingale armour is levelled, and the weapons are levelled to 46. When i get to that level i'l just get that armour, as it should suffice being levelled that much.

True nightingale is leveled- as far as the enchants go. The protection values are not. If you are on a PC you can just console the leveled items in later, if you are on a 360/PS3 - then yes I too curse bethesda for keeping leveled items in the game.

DB armor is not leveled and has great "thief" help. My usual set is DB boots/gloves/hood and theives guild armor (since it "looks" the rogue part the best). Anyways. picking up these armors and improving them should be more than sufficient.

If the matter is a lack of armor, and light just doesn't cut it for your protection needs, then you might not be as "roguish" as you thought, and might wanna go a "thug" route and get heavy armor.

that and I have an ebony non-magical sword that I just got of some undead dude. My second weapon is still the Orc sword I got about level 5 - just haven't found anything better. Loot doesn't seem to be as prevalent as with my first thief.

Loot is random, I can tell you that for sure. You will need to be improving your gear, or shopping to get better stuff. I can let you know if your best weapon is an ebony sword you found of an undead dude, then you need to do some upgrading since you are probably about level 40 and fighting Death overlords (who drop that loot) You better have something better than they do.

Consult the UESP or these forums about enchanting, or go shopping- since at this level the shops will have powerful enchanted items for sale already. Then pick up "Arcane Smith" and sharpen your blades and buff your armor.

Ebony mail would be a very good choice if you had to pick heavy armour. But in agreement, i will be sticking to Light Armour, and just have to be creative with enchanted items, and upgrade repairs.
