Battls of Fort Dunstad

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 9:30 pm

I have been trying to complete the Battle of Fort Dunstad Quest and I have encountered a problem. I meet up with the soldiers, and we go in. We kill Stormcloaks left and right until we are down to 5% remaining. At that point, no more enemies spawn and the quest cannot be completed. I have tried restoring my save and doing it again several times and I get the same result. I have searched inside every building and door in the fort looking for hidden enemies and I'm not finding anything. Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a workaround? I'm on PC by the way, if that makes a difference. And, for the record, please don't tell me to use console commands or some other kind of mods or adjustments. I hate that stuff, don't particularly understand how to use it, and don't trust myself not to screw it up.

Are there enemies inside the fort? Have some fled?

I looked inside the fort and did not find any. If some fled, how would I know? Do they come back? If not, how do I find them to kill them? I've seen videos of the battle and they found all of the enemies outside without having to go indoors anywhere and none of them ran away. I do it and they stop coming when I hit 5% left and there are no enemies behind any of the doors or trapdoors. Is the quest just bugged? Is there a specific way to do this that I am missing? I have reloaded and redone the quest a dozen times from a dozen different directions and it just insists on getting stuck. I'm at a loss and cannot progress any further in the chain with this bugged out quest.

Does it matter that some of the enemies kill themselves by jumping down of high places in the fort? Because some of them have offed themselves by doing that.

if you are on pc search the uesp wiki for a console command to advance the quest. and when the count gets to 5% can you see red dots on you compass maybe theyve spawned inside a wall or under the map? try nocliping around the fort.

When the quest hits 5%, 3 more enemies spawn. I kill them (which should complete the quest right there), but the quest remains at 5% and no more enemies spawn. No red dots, nothing. I have circled the fort, gone inside every door, and searched the surrounding wilderness for stragglers. Still nothing. Quest is bugged.

Quest went fine for me.

Try this, load a save from before you got the quest and start it again. Not one from during the quest, but before the game knows you are to play it. More than likely, 2 or 3 NPCs rendered in the void. By starting it over, the game will re-render them in the right place.

Thank you. I will try that. Also, I would like to apologize for the cross posting. I noticed that you locked my thread in general and I saw the reason why. I did not realize that I was breaking a rule by cross-posting. I appreciate you pointing that out and I promise it won't happen again.

Keep up the good work guys! Thanks a lot for the help.
