@ Console owners: How would you feel if Skyrim was ported fr

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 9:24 pm

The PC owners get a lot of hate (that really just smells like jealousy) for wanting better graphics than the other versions because their hardware has had 6-7 years of advancement compared to those platforms. That's not what this thread is about. It's not the place for it either. This exists to answer an important question about this community.

I'm curious as to how the 360/PS3 crowd would feel is Skyrim came out on the Wii. And Bethesda kept their policy of "platform equality," so the PS3 and 360 versions would have Wii-level graphics, save for higher resolution, slightly better shadows, and a bit of filtering. Overall Skyrim would look a lot worse on all platforms, with much less detail in all areas. Also, the controls and user interface would be designed for the Wii controller (including motion). There would be no support for Kinect / Move. That UI would be translated to normal controllers .. poorly. Also, Bethesda would split Skyrim into more cells, meaning more loading screens in dungeons / towns / interiors. Instead of one area Whiterun would have district gates that force a load screen (same city size).

Would you enjoy Skyrim if it was ported from the Wii? Would you be content with visuals, loading frequency, and world detail noticeably lowered because of a Wii version? A smaller game world? More loading screens than necessary? Divided cities? Controls and UI designed for the Wii controller? UI made to work on a standard def TV? Be honest.

As long as the game was still good, I'd have no problem with it. The Wii has some quite good looking games.

I wouldn't buy it and I wouldn't come to the forum. There are at least 20 other amazing games on every platform well worth my money.

If it was still a fun game, then yeah, I'd play and enjoy it. I don't care about graphics or loading times; I still play old games from time to time. The only thing that might bother me is the UI, if it was that poorly implemented.

Anyway, I don't really get the whining from PC gamers because at least you can eventually fix this stuff (and add so much more content into the game) with mods. >_>

I would enjoy Skyrim even if it was ported from a commodore 64. Really, get over yourself and stop feeling sorry for yourself. These console vs PC wars are getting boring.

As a PC user, I'm glad the game was built for the specs that it was built.

I'd probably get it for the Wii, just to see how the controls worked. The Wii needs more big open world RPG's.

Why would I care where it came from as long as it worked as advertised on the 360?

One day handheld smart phones will be capable of running quality games, with the massive market of gamers on these devices we might see TES7 or 8 ported from Android.

How would you feel if you bought a Ferrari or a Bugatti only to realize they replaced the original engine with a cheap Honda engine?

How would you feel if your family said you were going to Disneyland, but they actually put you in a mental hospital for absurd anology abuse?

Because that comparison is downright crazy.

My PC is more powerful than an Xbox or a PS3. I can use a wireless xbox controller on my PC along with my 1080p resolution, better graphics and mods. Not something I'd want to put in the bin to be honest.

This sort of platform trolling is entirely inappropriate on the forums.
