Script dragon error on new patch.

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 9:29 pm

I have noticed that script dragon doesn't update automatically, what is with that, if someone would be kind enough to send me their script dragon and all new dll files in the new patch.. I can't find one anywhere ;/

Script dragon is a script extender written by an individual who is not affiliated with Bethesda. It gets updated when he gets around to it. If you want to complain about that, you should do it in the appropriate thread.

Why do i need the script dragon then? if its not affiliated with Bethesda? Is it because it supports some mods or something? i tried to get one from my bro, but he didn't have it :o?

It's a third party script extender, so you must have downloaded and installed it. It doesn't come with Skyrim. Script extenders aren't mods themselves, but they unlock functionality that some mods use and are therefor required by those mods. If you don't know why it is present on your system, then perhaps you need to remove it and any other mods. If you can't keep track of which mods you're using and how they were installed, you are bound to run into problems and are probably better off not using them.

Maybe i should just remove EVERYTHING in my skyrim folder, and redownload it, i think thats the only way of doing it, because i dont know what all the mod files are that i have.

To keep things clear, Steam workshop makes mods more easily accessible. Maintaining those mods, relies on their authors: players like you, me and anyone -not Steam and certainly not Bethesda.

So, under this concept, somebody was indeed kind enough to provide you with a link. If there isn't one, matching the current Skyrim version, have some patience and they'll update. Unless ofcourse Script Dragon's author abandoned the project, but it's too early to jump on such a conclusion -and this is where I stop, as this kind of talk belongs http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1341854-rel-script-dragon-topic-5/, not here ;)

Things like unoficial script extenders are bound to get broken. Now that the creation kit is out, script dragon isnt really needed anymore.
There are even mods like multiple companion support that don t need any extenders.

Best mods arround feature wise:

deadly dragons
war in skyrim
warzone
imp more complex needs (sleep, eating, etc)
(and I m thinking of getting some camping mod)

those up the gameplay and add challenge much needed in the late game.

Anyway scrpt dragon was done prior to the creation kit release to allow modding in the downtime.

Nope, not needed. ScriptDragon is just a third party tool written by Alexander Blade that programmers can use to write scripts in another programming language aside from the native Skyrim scripting language (Papyrus).
