Do the companion quests ever end?

I've been thru a lot of the companion quests and I reached the point where it says to talk to the leaders for more work. I've now down several of the smaller quests and they keep on coming.

To give you something to do once all the quests are complete. Most guilds offer on-going ones, so yes.

I read in the official guide that there are three "tiers" of quests. First tier are the Family Heirloom, kidnapping, etc. The second tier is supposed to include the quests to get new werewolf "shouts" (I don't recall what they are actually called) that allow for a couple of different powers besides the "roar" power that frightens NPCs away. Third tier had something to do with dragons. The guide says it depends on how far you are in the Companion quests determines what "tier" you get but I completed the Companion's quests as far as I know and all I'm getting are the first tier quests. Maybe the guide meant how far you are in the main quest? I really want to try out the other werewolf powers.

I've done a ton of them and so far its just go retrieve this, go kill a creature in someone's house, etc... I did get a quest line to find three totems that are now permanently situated around the brazier in the underforge. It took me 3 characters to do it because my first 2 would reach one of Aela's quests where she accompanies you to a cave and it crashes to desktop every time. I ended up abandoning those 2 characters.

On the same note, but regarding the DB....do those "erands" you do after you finish the main quest ever end? Or get better?
