Can uninstallinginstalling mods without starting a clean sav

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 1:56 pm

Hey,

My question is in the title.

I usually have no problem with crashes at all. However, although I have been playing this game since release I have never had an issue with my game crashing every hour or less that I have had in the last few days. I have on my current save kept uninstalling and adding new mods to it and I don't know whether this has 'broken' it if that is possible.

I may begin a new save and play a few hours and see if my save was broken or not but I would like your opinions.

Thanks

May be a silly question, but did you try reinstalling the game? I also all of a sudden experienced crashes after the last update. Reinstalling fixed it, although I still have a CTD on rare occasions.
Other than that I don't really have an answer for you. I suppose it depends on exactly which mods you used, and whether they modified values that are stored in the savegame or not. But that's exactly what you are asking about, isn't it? :)

I have only used SkyUI, but if you list which mods you use(d) then other people might be able to help you.

Hey,

Thanks for your help. I took your advice and deleted everything. The entire installation, ini's and mods.

I have played for a couple of hours and it's smooth as butter and no crashes. I think I may had inadvertently deleted some files before that belonged to mods but now that I had to reinstall everything it all works dandy! Thanks

No prob. :)
Like Thoth said in another thread: Reinstalling does wonders. Seems like it's a good idea after each new patch. That, and going completely vanilla.
Bit of a hassle, but that's the reality right now unfortunately.

Glad you solved it man :D
I reinstall after every patch seems to work better that way. Reinstall meaning dumping everything like you said you did and backing up your saves.
