Sudden performance issues

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 5:31 am

I haven't played Skyrim in over 2 months, but recently started all over again. I remember the game running just fine, but now I found my loading times upon entering and leaving a building/zone (with Autosave enabled) take up to 1 minute, after which I get heavy stutter for another 10 seconds.
The game also freezes when I'm using shouts for about 3-5 seconds.

None of this ever happened before. I play with a minimum of mods (SkyUI, Better Quest Objectives, JaySuS Swords, Immersive HUD, Glowing Ore Veins, Enhanced Night Skyrim). I use the default Bethesda High Res pack.

System:

CPU: i5-760
GPU: GTX460 SLI (768mb edition)
RAM: 4g
Win 7

Playing on 1920x1080, everything maxed out, no AA.

My GPU has been updated to the last NVIDIA drivers, promising increased SLI and regular performance, yet if anything it's only been downhill for me.

Anyone recognize this?

Turn off the High Res pack in the Launcher and report back.

Will give it a try when I get home from work. I have already played with the HD pack shortly after it got out though, and had no such issues.

Swapping Shadow Quality from Ultra to High seems to have completely fixed these issues. Game is smooth as butter, with the HD pack enabled.

Thanks for the help anyway!
