Roll Back from 1.5?

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 5:48 pm

I've been experiencing all sorts of odd problems since the 1.5 upgrade - random CTDs anywhere & at any time, objects floating above tables instead of on them, NPC mouths not moving when they're talking ... ... ...

I've removed all mods & plug-ins apart from the two default ones, yet the game won't even start now - instant CTD after hitting load.

Is there a way to roll back to 1.4 - I'm rather reluctant to have to un-install the whole thing & start again!!

Thanks for that - Steam has now rolled back to 1.4.27.

Unfortunately, the game is still doing a CTD as soon as I hit "open".

I have un-installed every mod & plug-in, I'm using the correct version of SKSE, yet the game won't even start now.

Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks

Delete the ini files or delete the exe files in your Skyrim directory and let Steam validate the game files.

Delete the ini files or delete the exe files in your Skyrim directory and let Steam validate the game files.

I've done all of that - still get immediate CTD when loading the saved file. Tried loading different save files, same result - can't get into the game at all :swear:

Can you start a new game?
Are only post 1.5 saves affected? Or also 1.4 saves?
Did you try reinstalling all mods you had before? If the saves ave used certain mods it might be that they now depend on them in some way.

It might also be possible that the de-installation of the mods has not been complete and there's some files left that now cause problems.

Strangely, it WILL allow me to start a new game, but I can't load any saves, either ones created during 1.5, or earlier ones from 1.4 - I just get instant CTD when I try.

Think I'll try un-installing the whole game & re-installing - at tleast that will give me a clean base to work from.

Hm, if it is a leftover from some mod you might be fine if you find the files that cause the problem - you might consider deleting just the files in the data directory that aren't esp/esm or bsa and verifying the game files again so it can download the now missing ones.
However, before reinstalling Skyrim I would also consider reinstalling all the mods you had used in your saves.
It is quite possible that they don't work anymore due to some missing mod-related stuff.
