So... locked out of Steam?

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 10:17 pm

Since 1.5 came out today, I figured I'd grab it.

I have Steam set to offline mode by default, so I had to go online.

Asked me to login. I type in the password, wait a second, and get a message saying that Steam could not connect.

The thing is, now there's no option for me to start Steam in offline mode. When I double-click Steam on my desktop, it prompts me to login, then gives me the same error message.

Manually ejecting & re-inserting the Skyrim disk results in the same prompt (after a screen with the "Play" option, which, when clicked, kicks me to the login menu with the same ultimate result).

So, I can't start Steam offline, apparently.

Unless I'm missing something?

Help?

It happens, unfortunately.

Last week I couldn't connect for about 2 hours, then gave up.
When I came back to it later it worked again.

If your problem persists, write Steam support.

OK, thanks.

I'm mostly just hopeful that I get the option to start it offline again.

Just to clarify, Steam offline mode only works if you have your credentials saved and have gone into offline mode while it could connect before.

Anyway steam just had a patch today, so that could be part of the issue, if it hasn't successfully rolled out to you yet.
