Governance...

Hi All,

Just wanted to get your feed back on something,

My question/comment is this, probably discussed a thousand times but why are we never given the oppotunity to rule/govern or lead?

Slightly spolish, but for the imperial side in the civil war you get promoted in military rank but are never given troops to command (Guess its the same for the SC). The PC is always instructed to join them in battle and do X as a lone wolf.
Additional to this after the civil war, new Jarls are elected to cities that have leanings to the correct sides.

I was kinda hoping, that either I became an Jarl of a city with all the benefits and responsiblities or alternatively was given a fort to manage ie ( maybe fix up, train troops etc to help Skryim). The Imperial soldiers don't seem to reconise the fact that I'm a Legate (sp?), but thats not a major issue,

It just made me laugh because the general said when you join the Legion you're in for life but after all was said and done I went on my merry way.

Not a moan as such but just was hoping there was something that could of been done along the lines of fable 3.

Yes all the civil war questline was obviously rushed, and is lacking alot, for many reasons.

a) take a fort, all region is yours;
b) like you said ranks you gain mean nothing, you get a item depending of your lvl;
c) there are 0 counterattacks by the enemy, its always a 1 way war;
d) the fact you are dragonborn, and can use the Thu'um, is never exploited by the quests, objectives or dialogues;
e) Dragonborn saying "ma'am reporting for duty", send a chill down my spin has a "demi-god" is reduced to frontline grunt, may has well call yourself Ramirez the Dragonborn;
f) Quests are boring, there is no dept, you can never convince jarls to join your side
g) You may be the 3rd in comand by the end of questline, but you never had a say, on anything, you are always the mail boy, with nukes;
h) because bad.

The difficulty with this quest is that depending on which quests you have done first, you might be at differing levels of relative power

For instance, right now I'm doing the Imperial quests, and I've done almost everything else, meaning I'm absolutely hard as nails and destroying everything.

Therefore, you would hope this would be reflected in as much as you would easily represent the tipping factor in who won the war. For RP purposes, it would be good if that was reflected in dialogue etc.

Were you to focus on the civil war quests earlier however it might not seem so relevant.

Either way, if you were the devs and going to pick one of the above scenarios over the other, lets face it, you should have picked the "with the Dragonborn on our side we can do anything" type dialogue, which I must admit I've yet to come across. Seems an obvious miss IMO.

You could even add some randomly over heard "I hear the Dragonborn has joined the [stormcloaks/imperials], this could change everything". I wouldn't expect everyone in Skyrim to know who you were (far from it, which is why I don't agree that everyone should be svcking you off the whole time), so I think it would be additive to have something like this in there.
