In-Game console, on xbox?

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 11:11 pm

Obviously there is no console on xbox because microsoft are control freaks. But...

... Why not? Isn't it our problem if we messages things up by using the console?
Besides the xbox is a pc? Why can't we have the console, mods etc.?

I would love to be able to alter FOV, and other little things, take screens, use mods etc. On xbox

The more freedom M$ gives you, the less control they have over what you're playing, and the less money they make from you. Why would they allow you to run mods when they can hold you captive and make you buy DLC for fresh content? That way they get their cut and everything is great (for them).

Still, that's what you get for buying a platform owned entirely by a company; the only reason PC gets mods is because nobody owns the platform, so nobody can say no on our behalf.

It's also MS's problem if the console is under warranty and your changes increase its wear and tear.

While the PS3 and XBox 360 are basically computers at this point, they're closed systems. This has benefits and drawbacks, and restricted access to many things is one of the drawbacks. However you can always let MS know that you want the next generation to be more open and to support things like mods and the developer console.
