Mystic archer build

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 3:56 am

Can anyone give some tips about what skills and perks to take? I was thinking of using conjuration for the bound bow and summons, illusion for the crowd control and invisibility and sneak. Is the bound bow good enough at high levels or will I have to switch to something else?

I am doing Cojuration Archery and Enchanting. I haven't had any need to use illusion yet. The Ice Atronach has been more then enough. The build has been fun.

I believe the bound bow does 50 damage with the bound weapon perk. I enchanted my gear with +Archery and started filling in talents in archery. I think I am at 86 damage now. 60 enchant and roughly 45 archery.

You can also poison bound weapons. So with the mystic binding perk and a high alchemy skill the bound bow becomes a viable option.

Thanks for the help. The main reason for wanting to use illusion was for the silent casting perk but I didn't want to waste the perks on a skill I'm not going to use.

Alchemy with the bound bow is a good option. Illusion for crowd control and muffle and invisibility plus silent casting , also invest in your atronachs and maybe the Dremora Lord. I think this would he a fun build to play I have not tried it yet.

My mystic archer only relies on sneak attacks and even with the 3x damage perk from the sneak tree, bound bow sorely lacks power against higher level mobs. You need to circumvent this by enchanting fortify archery on your armor. Also, I took silent casting coz I was always detected when I cast bound bow in sneak mode (otherwise I'm constantly casting detect life/dead) and I haven't regret one bit. Also, the stagger perk is more of a life saver than the paralyze perk for bow IMO

Thanks guys  , I think I will go with sneak, archery, illusion, conjuration and enchanting. Putting a bunch of archery damage enchants on my clothes should help with the damage.

I just started a character with this build. I use a regular bow (don't want to waste time and magicka on bound weapons, and I really like a good bow that I can enchant and get attached to), and then Conjuration to raise me some zombs, familiars and atronachs to protect me. I've been thinking about using Alteration and/or Illusion as well, but have mostly found Conjuration to be enough. I'm currently only lvl 10, so there's a long way to go, and I'd like to add another school of magic to my specialization. I can't decide which one, though, but I'll experiment a bit with both Illusion and Alteration, although, Restoration is kinda nice too.

Damn you Bethesda, so many options!!

I'm plaing a char like this now. Silent casting is important for sure. I personally like using the support spells in destruction (runes, cloaks, walls), so consider that as well. If your on a PC, there are mods to increase max runes placed, which helps out in later levels.

Yea you can't smithy the bound weapons so it keeps a nice ceiling on OP damage. I find that at lvl 20 the 85ish damage to be more then enough though.
