Quick Reflexes

Is there a reason why sometimes it doesn't trigger even though you're holding block during an enemy's power attack? o.o...

you need stamina for it to trigger, and be aware that this depletes your stamina bar pretty fast

Stamina doesn't seem to be the issue. I could have full stamina and Quick Reflexes could fail to trigger. And I haven't really found any consistency as to why. Like sometimes I can get Quick Reflexes to trigger twice in a row and sometimes it just doesn't want to work for several power attacks. *Shrugs*

In any case, I have the Block Runner perk and I'm using a shield. I'll do further testing later but I haven't really found anything conclusive as to why it doesn't work consistently.

Far from it my friend. Aside from allowing you to easily dodge or cancel the most dangerous attack that enemies will have, it makes combat very fun and dynamic. Instead of the repetitive hack and slash, you wait for them to attack you and in the blink of an eye, step behind and cut them down.

Shield bashing and shield charging are also very fun. Shield charging may be pretty unrealistic, but it is definitely nice knowing my warrior is an actual bulldozer! It also removes unrelenting force (and other similar shouts) as a warrior's main crowd control options, letting them use more beneficial ones, like elemental fury and slow time, both of which enhance the fun-factor of combat greatly.

EDIT: I forgot to make an on topic post. :D I'm sorry that you're having problems, as mine has never glitched ever. svcks that you miss out on such a fun perk. Anyway, I can guarantee that stamina is not an issue and it DOESN'T deplete stamina at all.

It works but it's just that for some reason... it's not consistent. I can't figure out why though. Sometimes it works on power attacks and sometimes it doesn't. I'll see if I can narrow it down, but so far, I've been unable to figure out why it's inconsistent.

I believe it only triggers if the enemy is power attacking you.

Yes I know that but the issue is that for a very noticeable amount of times, it doesn't trigger during an enemy's power attack. Why? I'm not sure. I've had it trigger when I'm blocking and I'm not even looking at an enemy doing a power attack (Although the enemy is doing it outside of view), so it can't be that (Just eliminating that as a factor).

It's a very useful technique, however, it would be far more useful if it was consistent. For some reason it just doesn't seem to be for me. Trying to narrow it down .. all help is appreciated. :)

Well, I managed to narrow it down... I had tested all different sorts of weapons and armor combinations but I still came up short. I then decided to load up a save prior to getting the blocking perks. I tried out each perk one by one and everything seemed consistent... and then it hit me. It wasn't any of the blocking perks. It wasn't even really related to blocking. It was... Spell Absorption.

I had to test out my theory. In this prior save I have none. In my most recent save I have 80. So I gave myself 100 percent spell absorption to test out my theory. I depleted my magicka by using a spell and then I held block while waiting for power attacks. Prior to this, everything went swimmingly. It was triggering each time. So to cut things short, the enemy power attacked and I noticed that my magicka bar went up and the Quick Reflexes didn't trigger.

I finally have conclusive results as to why it doesn't trigger every time. This is a bummer though, because I like the layer of protection that Spell Absorption provides and I've already invested points into the Alteration "Atronach" perk. Quite the dilemma.

So if anyone is wondering why it doesn't work consistently... there's your answer. Spell Absorption.
