i did'nt play skyrim for some weeks
now after steam update
when trying to launch the game from desktop icon
i get a steam error message:

"steam error
this game is currently not available
please try again later"

i already changed the steam server
doesn't help
never got this message before...
what can i do?

Try to veryfiy cache from steam menu (right click on steam then properities then verify...)

Wrong place. You do it with the game in the Steam Library screen. However, I'd reset the clientRegistry.blob file first just in case.

resetting ClientRegistry.blob https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7241-EYON-2343 did it
after restart steam updated skyrim (apparently hadn't done that before)
took about 8mn, after that i could start skyrim without problem... happy now
