Seriously. The more I proceed in the thieves guild questline the more it seems its not for fellas who just wanna steal and not kill.I mean what the hell.Theres at least three quests which involve lots of killing.

Yeah, there is one cool quest involving lots of stealth near the end, but then the last quest forces you into combat again.

It's a shame. But the quests are cool.

The main quest has quite a bit of killing, yes. However, all the Thieves Guild jobs that you get are very thief-like.

I'm kinda disappointed there's no advancement though. You go from novice to guildmaster? I mean, I enjoyed Oblivions rank system, you felt good when you were ready for advancement.

The Thieves plot quickly turns into being about Nocturnal and/or revenge.

The Radiant quests are for the thievery.

However, some of the thieves quests require a lot less fighting than you may realize. Remember that Falmer are blind.

How many ranks does a band of criminals need?

You're an operator, a fence, or a boss.

Oblivion's rank was pretty stupid and completely gratuitous outside of the Fighter's guild. It was entirely plot advancement.

"Thank you for doing work for me. Before you can do more work for me despite it being the only work available, you need to go talk to Bob and get a meaningless title and trinket."

At least Morrowind it served to gate content. You had to have the skill. If you met the requirements, you were vaguely capable of tackling the following missions. In Oblivion it was so useless it didn't need to exist.

Sure, if you play for realism. I just enjoy it when there's more ranks as it makes it fun to advance a little by little. It somehow feels deeper to me.

Haven't completed the main quest with one of my characters yet, but so far he's done all of the quest stealth-like, without entering combat at all.
Spoiler
Including the search for Karliah in the ruins with Mercel. Haven't done more quests after that, but I'll -try- to keep the same thief fashion, if possible.

Acutally this is the only guild that I liked the fact that there was no rank and file system as to me it seems more logical there there isnt that type of formal structure.

Yes but I'm talking about draugrs and spiders that are IMPOSSIBLE to ignore. And in one quest you have to fight trough [censored] load of bandits.

There's only one instance where you need to shed blood to advance the quests. Other than that, you don't have to harm anything.

The Falmer may be blind, but the two dopes following you don't seem to know that. Every time I tried to sneak by them, they would start attacking the Falmer if they got close... they weren't detected, but they just started attacking them. So for the most part I had to clear a path for them to sneak or just kill all those blind beasts. Though since they're both essential, I did just let them deal with it on their own a few times. Sort of an "It's your problem now... deal with it" approach to dealing with them. Kinda annoying since they're supposed to be uber-sneak thieves.

right-o. I liked this aspect of it. It forced you to work on your skills if you needed to for the next rank.

felt kind of strange being Arch mage and only casting adept level spells. lol.
