Already beat the game on my main guy, so now I'm looking to make a demi-god like character.

I'm trying everything I know of, and every suggestion/tutorial/guide there is on the forums, and that Google can produce, and I can't seem to get it to work.

What happens is I read the book, then store the book in a barrel/ash pile/cupboard/sack/anything else you can possibly think of, but once I loot the book again, it does nothing. Just sits there with the book open.

I had all the patches downloaded, then I cleared my system cache to allow me to play the unpatched, 1.0.something, so what could be wrong here?

maybe you have to do it in a container you own. I did it in my breezehome chest in whiterun. I havent really tried it in any thing else but maybe that will help.

Open a container read the book WHILE IT'S IN YOUR INVINTORY! Then put it into the crate/ chest whatever your using. Take it back out into your invintory again and read it again.

I guess I'll grind the 5k+ needed to buy the house and try this way.

I've done that already. I've opened the container, read the Oghma Infinium whilst looting the container. Stored the Oghma Inifinium in the container, exited out of the container, opened it back up and when I go to read the book, nothing happens.

You gotta store it, leave the container, take it from the container but not leave the inventory, use it, place it back in the container and repeate. If you have read it and its no longer giving you any bonuses then its not going to work again

Turns out I just had to get the house to make it work, thank you guys for your willingness to help.
